1972 MG MGB (Page 1/2) Jake_Dragon NOV 30, 08:23 PM For some time now I have been looking for something I can tinker with and not have to face the wrath of the SMOG test. Found a 1972 MG MGB that has had a conversion to an 85 2.8 6 cylinder out of an S10 and a 5 speed transmission. Has been well maintained for the age of the car and I certainly know my way around a 2.8 It's not a cobra but it's also not a cobra price tag. The bumpers is from a 78 and it shares some other body work and dash from a newer MGB but everything works and it has a lot of punch for such a little car. Think I may have to go get it. I did the math and for me its worth what he is asking for it and I have already been thinking about some ways to make it look and run better. Good luck on your decision. Couldn't find any rust. California car for sure. The top is new he just replaced it. Its a removable top so it stows away in the trunk. I will have to lower the seat some as they were recently redone and while very comfortable I will need 2 inches to be comfortable. Just don't do what I did. I found a car that I really wanted but decided to think about it. While I was thinking the next guy that looked bought it. I really wanted to go get it this week but its an hour drive one way with no traffic. With traffic its 3 hours lol. He had it for sale before and had to drop his price because purist told him it had too many parts from different years and that the push rod engine didnt fit the car Screw those guys anyway
