I don't really like the stock seats and the factory heated seats are trash. I also feel like the lumbar can be improved greatly. Instead of importing Insignia VXR Recaros I decided to look closer to home and I found these Recaros for $1400 from a local part out.
Test fit the passenger seat. Looks great. It's cooled as well. I cannot figure out how to run the heated/cooled seats through the HVAC module so I am converting it to an "on seat" system using an aftermarket heated seat kit and cutting the connection to the fans and using a simple switch.

Circled in red is where we removed brackets and cut excess material off the hook mounts. Need to relocate the outboard hook mount half an inch inboard and weld it.

Last weekend I was finally able to figure out how to get the passenger airbag activated. The Recaros passenger presence sensor wouldn't interface properly with the car, it wouldn't throw an airbag light but it wouldn't activate if someone sat on it. I also tried on of those airbag emulators, didn't work either. I grabbed a passenger presence sensor from a 2015 Regal out of the junkyard for $10 and was able to wire it in and it worked great. I'm having a nearby upholstery shop install an aftermarket heated seat kit, and the sensor, and I'll install aftermarket cooling fans. After I get my Saab (timing chain left the chat on Sunday) or Fiero (dead fuel pump) back on the road, I'll get the same work done to the driver side.
