LOL that was somebody screwing around who had NO idea what they were doing.
Bogging off the line and with sudden accelleration, I'd say adjust the accelerator pump to deliver less fuel.

Glad you're making headway!
Helps now you have a known (and arguably "correct" baseline).

I agree, someones been messing with that carb and screwed it all up. To me its a no brainer to put a carb on and older car set up for it. Out of the box with a new one and your driving it in 20 minutes. You couldnt ever talk me into converting to FI. Ill pay for the extra gas it uses. Besides, you can never duplicate the sound of a wide open 4 bbl. Dont even get me started on Holley carbs. I wont use one if you give it to me for free. I once threw 2 brand new ones out into a cornfield by a drag strip because they wouldnt work. I just slapped on a couple of AFBs from my tow car to finish the day.
With that much advance, something else is wrong. It wont take long to grenade that engine unless your using 110 octane fuel.[This message has been edited by rogergarrison (edited 11-16-2012).]

Time for another update. I want to set the car on fire
Been fiddling with the jets, metering rods, and so forth. Just can't get this damn bog tuned out. It idles awesome, cruises good, but when you try to pass it falls on its face and wants to stall. Yup, back to doing it again. I'll pull more advance out of the timing, but when it happens, it goes full lean. It maxes out my wideband. at idle it is good right at 15, while cruising it is good 13-14, but in power mode it is full lean 22.4 - lowest the wideband will go. when it recovers it runs about 9 - 11 for a minutes then starts acting right. hmm maybe i need to fiddle with the floats, adjust them for more fuel than the recommened settings. I miss fuel injection, does all this for you
I've got the biggest secondary jets recommended, may drill them out and it is set for maximum rich in power mode. may go further than recommended with the secondary plate tension - odd way of doing it but whatever. it's almost like the secondaries aren't pulling any fuel, may call edelbrock again. then again may just bite the bullet and toss out the edelbrock and go with a 750 holley double pumper, like everyone has been saying to, so she can actually drive the car and find out just how bad a third gen camaro is and finally scrap it someone else recommened a quadrajet. dunno about that.
but whatever I'll keep on keeping on and see if i can figure it out, they should have just left the fuel injection on this car, that was the only thing that worked like it should

Bolt on another carb, it's that simple.

I think that you should replace your floats. I had to do that once. Sometimes new makes it better. Also I would look at your secondary linkage you should be able to tickle it and it should move smoothly. I would also check your clearances on your butterflies that the shaft bearing points are not sloppy or worn and they aren't snagging. Last but not least is your intake manifold clean and completely clear and not restricting where they meet the heads. I suspect flow blockage. carbon maybe oily sludge. I had a Lincoln that had that problem and found the intake manifold was restricted as If it had emphysema. Hot tanked it , put it back and ran without lag. Never adjusted the carb after that unless I checked flow first.
My experience with carbs and computer carbs is limited to big block lincolns, mercury's and Pontiacs all v-8's.

bad carb. something about the vacuum ports, i *think* there was a crack or something. wasn't paying attention, just wanted it fixed. cost me about $450 plus parts. swapped it out with another, reset my primary jets and rods to factory setting, a little heavier step up spring, and a bit larger secondary jet, and reset my avs a bit lighter. took care of my stumble/stall condition. now it hesitates a split second and takes off. i can live with it. even passed memphis city inspection by flying colors. now i need a transmission, second is toast and third ain't too far behind. i knew there was an issue, just not that bad. plus the rear carrier bearings are gone as well, so i need a rear end too. this car sucks [This message has been edited by GreenPlatypus (edited 01-10-2013).]

I owned Camaros for years. Mainly 2nd gen ones tho. I only had one 3rd gen like yours,(1992) but it was F.I. not carb. Love em.

If its not connected or adjusted wrong, it would make it fall flat on its face under WOT for sure. The kickdown on my Dodge was wrong and too short, and it would go like crap under WOT in drive. It was awesome if I downshifted manually. Fixed that with a new linkage when I put the 413 in.
