Ford F150 or the Silverado 1500? (Page 2/2)

I have a 2020 diesel f150 (super rare) and they just stopped making that engine. there is no way i would ever touch a ecoboost engine from ford after finding out the waterpump is behind the front cover and when it starts weeping it weeps into the oil pan. A truck is a truck it all depends on what you plan to do with it. I have been hearing that 2017 newer ford f250 anytime you have to work on it the body needs to be split from the frame. All work starts at 3k and goes up.

My father has had a couple of the newer ones, a 2016 and 2018 with the V8. The newer one has the engine start/stop 'feature' and it's horrible. Luckily it can be disabled, otherwise you have to turn it off every time you turn the car on.

Otherwise he LOVES those trucks. He only got rid of the first one because it was a lease, and he got rear-ended at one point, causing some damage (totaled the other uninsured crap box that hit him).

My uncle hates that engine start/stop features on his newly acquired 2018 V8. We'll disable that when it returns from the installation of the new set of tires from 4Wheelonline this weekend.

Ford recently brought out a PUSH ROD 2 VALVE V8 so they could compete with the GM LT V8s and Dodge Hemis........4V engines are not very good truck engines where you need low-end torque for loads and towing. And 2 valve engines in trucks get better MPG.

My ex-GFs Tundra (2012 vintage) was low on torque and a gas hog.....Best highway mileage was 13 mpg...My friend's LS-V8 GMC was getting close to 20 mpg.....

love both of these trucks. I heard that the Silverado, having a Leaf rear suspension is not very comfortable, but I cannot confirm that as I never drove one.
