Why I will never buy a Pontiac Fiero ever again
https://www.msn.com/en-us/m...841df817cbe76c&ei=32
First let me state, I loved my Fieros, all were 88s and all were notchbacks. A total of 22 came through my ownership. Some got engine conversions. My favorites were the 3.4 DOHC, the 3800 Supercharged and the 4.9. Everyone ended up with five speed manuals, hated getting one with an automatic. This is not my video, just posting it for others. He does have some valid points but, he's not a Fiero enthusiast.
No, I no longer have, own or drive a Fiero. I wanted a convertible and couldn't find one I could afford so, now I'm driving and enjoying a Pontiac Solstice.

That’s an old video. Fiero’s have certainly gone up in price since then. On a different note, two things are clear in this video. His intro is misleading. I thought he was going to slam the car for reliability issues it had but 99.9% of his rant was about “tire kickers” wasting his time and that he couldn’t turn it for a quick and fat profit. He sells used cars for a living. He of all people should have understood the market for a car like this. Also, what is clear here is that he doesn’t care a rats ass about Fiero’s. If I were selling that Fiero and he came to my house, I’d tell him to go away. Call me sentimental but I would want my Fiero to go to a good home and be loved and cared for and his home ain’t no such place. You may call him a “used car dealer” but to me he’s just another Fiero “hater” and I’ve run across many of them. Kit P.S. Forgot to mention that it was wrong of him to compare the sellability of a lone Fiero (that is a two seater 40 year old car) with modern SUV’s that he says are popular and that he turns them quickly for a profit. This is a glaring example of comparing “apples with oranges”.[This message has been edited by Kitskaboodle (edited 07-12-2025).]

You just have to ignore folks like this. Even Solstice and Sky’s have their haters too.
Owning a car like the Fiero takes thick skin. You think it is tough now back in the early 90’s most of us were treated as the village idiots. Corvair guys can relate and today things are much better today.
When I bought mine new I was a celebrity in 1985. In 1992 the village idiot. Over time now it is I always wanted one, I had one, my mom had one. The kids today that is cool
Take the positive toss the rude.

I agree, once the fun factor was over, he became another car salesman. The Fiero is a niche car, not everyone is going to love them. Had I been able to afford a convertible Fiero back then, it would still be with me.

I remember watching that one on Youtube a few years ago. That guy is a dealer.... I guess it just goes to show, if "flipping" was so easy, everyone would be doing it. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't

Just to add my two cents... I think this video is a few years old, I remember it. Fiero prices have shot up like crazy. I bought my daughter's Fiero for her just over two years ago, and the car was a barely running 1985 5-Speed 4-cyl, and we paid $4k for it... and that was actually a decent price as the guy was getting higher offers after he already offered to sell it to me (which he showed me, but committed to selling it for $4k because he agreed to it).
The demand has shot up enough that there's a distinct difference between people who are looking for a cheap car, and someone who's willing to spend $10k on a car. Most of them are over $15k right now, with 4 of them at a much lower price, but three of the cheap ones on eBay are from classic car dealers and they list it as a down payment for the car, with one of them being a reserve not met (from a private seller).
What the guy is complaning about is more or less what you get with any car of that age that's a sports car (which is basically what he's saying).
The Solstice and Sky are a little bit cheaper on average because they're basically at their lowest point. For example, I bought one about 5 months ago for $3,500... the top of the line GXP Turbo with every option, minus the Coupe / hard-top body. But these will go up in prices too. I had one when new, back in 2005... and I loved the car as a fun car to drive... but I bought it as my daily driver, and it eventually got old kinda quick since I never had room to carry anything. But if you're just using it as a fun car to drive now and then... a Solstice is awesome.

If you are ever in the market for a convertible, I own the tooling to the Automoda conversions for both GT and Notchback and can produce you a set that is fully convertible or Targa

Well, Ron I just came back from a dealership with a black 2007 5 speed solstice myself! There isn't another car out there I liked the look of so I am continuing my Pontiac 2 seater ownership streak to 26+ years.
I suspect that's the way I feel now, too. I've had far less fieros but enough of them to know the 86 2.5 with the Isuzu 5 speed like a family member. A family member in an unhealthy relationship. 😆[This message has been edited by tbone42 (edited 07-15-2025).]
