Here is the video:
I only managed two runs before it all fell apart (emotionally* and mechanically speaking).
I won the first run with a slightly reasonable time of 13,41 seconds, what with all the wheelspin at the launch! (Turbo Slug can normally get into the 12s.) My car started to show signs of electrical problems (SES light, misfires), and apart from the dash-cam footage, none of the other cameras wanted to work for this first run. On the second run, I was lined up against a much more powerful rolling coal setup. My car continued to have severe electrical gremlins (alternator spiking and then not charging) but with a time of 13,34 seconds. I apparently finished 5th in my category that day ? (The rear facing camera worked for this run.)
This is probably the end of the Turbo Slug Fiero YouTube channel for now.
*I have Asperger's Syndrome Autism and I had a severe emotional "meltdown" (not filmed) at this race event with the crowds, the car problems and my own inability to manage all these inputs. I no longer want to put myself in these kinds of situations.
(EDIT 08/07/2025 - times corrected following official event video upload and hearing my times over the PA. Their timeslip machine didn't work so I had mesured my times from my videos.) ------------------ "Turbo Slug" - '87 Fiero GT. 3800 turbo. - The fastest Fiero in France! @turboslugfiero https://youtu.be/hUzOAeyWLfM[This message has been edited by Frenchrafe (edited 07-08-2025).]

Rafe, I'm hoping with some time away to recuperate, that you'll be able at some point to return to action with the Turbo Slug!
I enjoy your videos (even the vertical ones! ), and I hope to see you again in the future.
Take care, mon ami!

Rafe, you are a valuable member of our community and always very helpful. Take some time to get better, and remember that this is just a hobby, win or lose... The frustrations are still part of it , and they build memories. All the best!

Thanks Peter. Yes I know it's just a hobby, but it's also my specific interest. Specific interest that we autists have a tendance to focus on, while ignoring the rest of our surroundings and getting too obsessed untill we find ourselves overwhelmed too late.
I booked this race after le local one was cancelled yet again. But instead of being just an hour from my home, I would have to drive the car 6 or 7 hours to get there. 1st big mistake. 2nd mistake: thinking (hoping) that the Fiero woudn't break down. 3rd mistake: thinking that the Fiero wouldn't break down, but if it did I could fix it at the track. 4th mistake: thinking I could cope with the camp site and the after hours festivities that these kind of events seem to bring out of everyone involved. (Locally, I can just drive home once finished racing and come back the next day. I can limit the interaction time with other people. Yeah, I know that makes me sound like a mean person, but it's just the way I fonction. I'm not mean, I like talking motors, cars, etc... with other "gearheads" But after a certain amount, I can no longer do it and have to move to a quieter area.) 5th mistake: not having a viable means of getting home without the car. (This race track is in the middle of nowhere. No one drove their race car to the event; everyone had trailers or race car transporters. In the end, my wife drove 6 hours to collect me. We still have to go back next week, with a rented car transporter, to get the Fiero. Had I planned a bit better, I could have rented this transporter for the actual race week end, and probably found a bed-n-breakfast/hotel à little way from the site as well.)

Yeah, I don't have a car trailer so I'd don't entertain driving to tracks that are 1+ hour away for those reasons.
You'll get it fixed. Good luck!
