It's time for a new battery, any suggestions?

I've always used and had good luck with the factory recommended AC Delco. If you are not worried about keeping your car all original then almost any of the top brands will give good service. sleek

I got this one, it's much smaller and lighter, but it cranks it over better than my old normal battery (which is now in my daily driver)

For my engine swaps, I located batteries in the trunk. On the most recent change I went to the larger Odyssey battery AGM7586 Performance Series . It is made in the USA was expensive but since the battery is in the trunk an AGM battery is a must as they don't emit corrosive gases. . A while ago MAFOA offered club members a 10% discount so that helped.
Previously I used Optima AGM batteries but since the production was moved to Mexico the quality has gone downhill.

I used Delco Freedoms till they were gone. Now Optima.

The reason for a good AGM like this is to keep from eating up the battery tray that is welded into the car.

Now some folks like to hate Optima but the truth is most never learned about AGM batteries. They need an AGM charger to charge them if they get below 11 volts. AGM batteries have a Diode that needs stimulated to charge. But that is the trade off of using an AGM to prevent it eating up the car.

I am a dealer for Odyssey and Optima and both if used properly work fine. I have them in my Fiero and Corvette. In the Corvette it is even worse as they put the battery over the computer. Acid drips and kills the computer. Even GM went AGM.

I've used Duralast Golds for well over a decade, but I find the warranty they were known for gets scaled further and further back every time I replace it.

I'll 3rd the Deka's treat em right, I'm going on 18 years with one and 15 the other. Granted seasonal use and the get full charge at thaw and before the freeze. The battery in my ride was made in 2019, starts the motor right up.
