I had some footage which wasn't used elsewhere in my videos, so here's a quick 4 minute vid:

The slot there is for a hook which holds the factory parking brake cable. You don't seem to be using that hook.
Maybe by welding the slot closed, there will be less stress concentration, but probably you should weld a doubler plate over that area for more durability.

OK, thanks I couldn't remember what that slot was used for. The crack appeared to follow the edge of a spot weld? The extra force applied by the backing plate of the gearbox mount seemed to have stressed that area.
As I said above, this was old footage (from over a year ago). The car has since passed inspection with no remarks, and the crack hasn't come back. We'll see if it stays welded up after some drag racing this summer!------------------ "Turbo Slug" - '87 Fiero GT. 3800 turbo. - The fastest Fiero in France! @turboslugfiero https://youtu.be/hUzOAeyWLfM

Great job on the repair but I would consider welding a steel plate over the cracked area for extra reinforcement and strength. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite.
