I thought I’d share a photo of my custom shift knob (1lb 5.4oz) that I purchased quite a while ago right here on Pennock’s Fiero Forum. It’s a small but meaningful touch that really adds some personality to the interior of the car. I’ve always appreciated the unique upgrades Fiero enthusiasts come up with, so I figured this would be a great place to showcase mine—and hopefully inspire others to post photos of their custom shift knobs as well.
It’s always fun to see the creativity and variety within the community, so let’s keep the inspiration going. What do you have installed in your Fiero?

Not entirely custom, but not factory either, normal shift knob on an 84 short shifter and Rodney leather boot, recovered with new leather with red stitching, to match the other red accents to my interior, steering wheel recovered same way, with red top marker, and seats have red piping and red GT strap across the back, floor mats (now) have red piping and "Fiero GT" in red.

Mine is from a VW as it has the same shift pattern as the F40. To install it requires cutting off the quick connect and tapping it for the 16mm thread that the Fiero uses. The car also has a trim ring to reduce the size of the shifter opening.

II have two. I like the look of the one with the Pontiac logo but nothing feels as good as a smooth round metal shift knob that has been polished by years of shifting gears. I drive with the smooth gear knob and put the one with the logo on if I show the car.

That looks like the one Matt Ammons turned a while back. I'll bet it gets hotter than hell in the sun after a bit 😀[This message has been edited by infinitewill (edited 04-16-2025).]

Hi Will, you're right—it's a shame the old thread where he talked about it while making it lost all the photo links.
P.S. It never reached a temperature that made it burn to the touch—though that might be because I always used a sunshade when it was my daily driver.

The ball started out as a square block. A good friend of mine was a machinist and he did me a nice favor.
The engraving was also done by a friend of mine.
