Before I forget, just posting this here so one day it may help someone who's searching for it... not that big of a deal, but I didn't want to have to make my own clips, or do something ghetto.
My daughter has the 85 with the honeycomb metal panel that sits underneath the engine vents on either side. Some cars came with a stamped sheet panel that had small louvers in them, but I'm sure most people like the honeycomb one so that you can actually look in the engine bay (and they cool better).
In any case, they use these little plastic clips which seem to be impossible to get, and the Fiero Store doesn't have them.

They're RX-8 Louver Clips
There's a bunch for sale, but I'm sure this auction will disappear, so this is what they look like:

(You can also paint these black if you wanted to)

The originals are plastic? I seem to remember then being metal, I got a bunch from the parts both at the Fiero 40th, they weren't original, but I was missing some so I got them, another difference between the honeycomb and the louver style is that the main grill part is must stronger in the old style, the newer style is just flimsy, thin, could bend by leaning on it, the 85 style is thick cast something, I could stand on them and they'd be fine.

The ones on my daughter's 85 are plastic. This is the first Fiero I've worked on in about 15 years, so I may have forgotten a lot. It seemed like there were two styles of under-vent grills. I'm not really sure any more... but the ones on my daughter's 85... the previous owner had fabbed up a couple of tabs to keep them on since the factory ones were broken.

Those are very common. They are called push nuts.\ Retaining Washers. Available at Graingers, McMaster-Carr, Home Depot, etc.
quote | Retaining Washers These washers are well-suited for high torque, vibration, and heat environments. In addition to being firm, they are flexible and easy to install or remove compared to more traditional flat and lock washers. |
