I’m about to replace my wiper motor on my 85 GT. I have the new one and am ready to go (other than waiting for a clear day to do it since it’s been raining the last few days) Anyhow, I’ve never replaced a wiper motor on a Fiero and I would like to know if you have any tips or suggestions on how to do it. Here are two pics of my pretty new wiper motor: 😀 Kit [This message has been edited by Kitskaboodle (edited 12-14-2024).]

Check in the back of your Pontiac Fiero Service Manual before the body section for tips on the wiper motor
Make sure your wipers are in the "park" position, and I suggest a windshield wiper arm remover tool like Lisle 65750 or equivalent

Check on the wiper arm removal tool. (already have one) Check on the park position of the wiper arms. I will also mark the wiper arms and shafts for re/orientation when I put it back together, Anything else? Kit

Did you read and understood the wiper motor removal / installation section in the Pontiac Fiero Service Manual?

No, not yet. I do have a FSM but haven’t really had the time to read it yet. 🙁 I will do that before I start. Kit

Ok, wiper motor is in and works great. After the new one is in, you begin to realize how loud the old one was. The new one is nice and quiet. As for the wiper arm removal, I had the wrong kind. Mine was for wiper arms that have a threaded shaft in the middle (like my Toyota pickup) So, using the careful placement of two door panel removal tools, (one on equal sides of the wiper arm base) I was able to get the arms off the spindle/ shaft. Thanks again, Kit
