Hello
I am running a Monsoon radio with bluetooth connectivity. I have a factory sub housing with Rodney's speaker in it, but it is not currently hooked up- need to figure out how to connect it to the Monsoon unit.
I would like to run a dedicated amp for the sub- any suggestions? As I am not strong with this stuff, I guess I also need to run some kind of crossover with this old unit to separate bass/ treble?
Suggestions would be appreciated
thanks

Space is not your friend in a Fiero, especially with a factory sub housing. I wanted a miniature amp that would fit in the factory amp location on the passenger side of the console and came up empty. I finally gave up looking and added a compact powered sub mounted behind the passenger seat. I used the space freed up by ditching the factory sub housing and mounted a miniature four channel amp there for the main speakers and run it all from a mid-level Pioneer head unit and with modern stuff, crossovers are built in so no need for the extra equipment. I don't have much money in the system, but in the confines of our cars, there's not much space that you have to fill with sound either. I'm sure a for-real audiophile would find a lot to criticize about my system, but it's plenty loud without any distortion and I'm pleased with it.

I kind of prefer the old school stock look of the Monsoon unit- I just don't know if this old system has a built in crossover or not. If I can find an amp about the size of the original one, that is good enough for me, as long as only bass goes into the sub without distortion.

The crossover for the sub is in the subwoofer amplifier and not in the head unit; do you have the factory sub amp?
If so, my 'old-school' suggestion is to repair it....

Thanks. Unfortunately I do not have a factory Fiero amp. This is why I was hoping to find a replacement roughly the same size that would be compatible with my Monsoon unit.

You may want to try something like Ali Express... they have a lot of little amplifiers (like this one: https://www.aliexpress.us/i...56807125245153.html) which would fit in that area. There are probably better ones than this, this is just the first one I found.
Do you have the original wiring for the subwoofer system? It came with something that went in-line with the stereo, in order to pass-off the output to the amp... where the amp filtered out the higher frequency sounds, and boosted the lower frequency sound (which the factory stereo usually lowers).
There are small devices you can buy that do this too... like this one on eBay: https://www.amazon.com/Ampl...erado/dp/B0BW7837ZG/
I don't know if that does exactly what you're looking for... but I did something similar in my Crown Victoria years ago. I wanted to keep a stock look, so I upgraded the stereo to the same model it already had, but that could read MP3s on disc. I then went all-out, upgrading the amps and speakers, and modifying and re-using the factory subwoofer system (which had already been discontinued by my year, but that still fit).
Not hugely helpful, but it shows how I was able to regain those lower frequency with a signal processor, that normally get filtered out by stock radios: https://www.pontiacperforma..._Stereo_Install.html I ended up with over a 600 watt system, with original German-made MB-Quart speakers all around (before they sold out and got cheap).
Don't judge, haha... I made the website in the late 90s, and last updated it in like 2004 (in Notepad).
