Is it possible to bend your wheels by prolonged sitting? (Page 1/2)

I know it’s an odd question to ask but sometimes I really worry about letting my 86 GT sit in the garage for extended periods. To be honest, I’m trying to keep it “mint”. That means it sits a lot (up to a year sometimes) but I do notice that after a long time sitting the tires do bulge out a little bit. (yes, I know this is probably an air pressure issue)
Anyways, I sometimes wonder if it’s possible to get a bent / tweaked wheel from sitting for such a long time? I am aware that you can get flat spots on a radial tire from sitting but my question is specifically about the wheels themselves.
Your thoughts? Kit

You won't have any affect on the Wheels...But the tires; Put the car on stands during prolonged sitting.

You might have a problem with spoke wheels. One of my brothers-in-law had an MGB GT that he left at a friend's house when he moved several states away. When he retrieved the car, he had to have the spoke wheels re-tuned by adjusting the spokes. They had lost their symmetry.

Termites might be more of a concern.

I have a car that I store, but to keep the tires semi-usable, the car is jacked up off the ground. I built a wood support for all 4 corners and put 8 casters on each allow movement around the shop as needed.

No wheels will not bend from sitting,

Tires will flat spot from sitting. Some times when they warm they will go back but too often older tires will take a set and remain flat in one spot.

Race Ramps make tire cradles that prevent damage to the tires. They are very effective.

I am not a fan of jacking a car up. One if you let the suspension hang it can damage shocks and struts. Also if it is off the ground should you need to move it fast like in a case of fire or the like it is no t going to happen.

Performance tires are softer compound and often victims of flat spots. My old Comp TA Radials used to clear up but as the rubber got older and harder the flat spots remained.

You can also top off the air pressure and roll the car a bit once a month so move the pressure point.

My Fieros sit inside about 6 months out of the year in a garage. So far no problems but every now and then I push the car a few inches to change the spot on the tire where the car sits. Not ideal but its been working.

Earthquakes will bend your rims. Sitting would likely dig rims into surface air loss would likely be from old stems rather than warped wheel.

Air loss is most common to the bead seals on many wheels. Hard rubber and imperfect surfaces can leak air. Also temp changes will decrease air pressure in colder areas.

Valve stems may leak but beads are most common.

That's what I do, easy and effective.
