Was this an approved swap with a CARB sticker? Was it a clean swap?

I took nothing off the engine and didn't see a CARB sticker. There's nothing special about a "Fiero 3800" engine in a junkyard. It's the same engine two cars over in a Celebrity or Grand Prix. Perhaps something like an engine mount would be useful if you want to spend 2 hours on your back to get a $50 part that the yard will sell you for $15.

Was just wondering ... it seems like a lot of effort goes into working with a BAR ref to do a swap with the emission parts, etc., so the car will be certified and that such a car would not end up in a yard. Perhaps this was a non-compliant swap whose luck ran out?

It had to have had the passkey system deactivated, probably a delete for the downstream cat and if a manual then other things deleted off the computer. The computer would be worth money, as would the custom brackets.

I was an automatic. The computer is the same computer as a non-Fiero 3800, no? If you're saying the chip was custom., I'd believe that. I don't think the custom chip would be worth much though. Maybe I'm wrong.

There are many items needed for a 3800 Fiero engine swap. Mounts/Brackets, alternator relocation bracket, custom belt tensioner, fuel and water lines, swap harness, throttle cable bracket and reflashed PCM. If you salvaged all of them you'd probably have $700 worth of parts, (provided they are well done) in excellent shape and working. You also have a supercharger, fuel rail, and LIM there worth a couple hundred used and an exhaust system worth a few bucks. Great find for someone doing that swap.
