3d printed over the roof scoops. (Page 2/4)

You expertise in printing sounds great but could it have a negative effect?
The engine compartment in a Fiero gets its cooling mainly while you drive when air is diverted from underneath and out the vent grills at the sides of the trunk lids. By attaching an air scoop over the roof and over those vent grills, you create positive pressure going the other way. Wouldn't you be defeating the engine compartment cooling effect?

Yep. Well aware. I think it will be fine.

I have a suggestion for you; Set it up with a grill on the back side and an internal air mixer so the air coming IN the scoop above creates a venturi effect and draws MORE air from the engine compartment.........Just a (Crazy) idea....

I guess I could.

I'm going to do some actual testing. Yes it will reverse airflow meant to keep things cool. However, maybe...just maybe this will improve cooling. I would think some higher pressure, higher velocity air coming in would be cooler. Worth a few spools of material to find out. Do some before and after engine compartment temp tests.

so uh...
for those of us who don't have all the nifty printing tools... you gonna sell these?

I'm thinking no since on my biggest machine just the over the roof part will take 23 hours to make one.....yikes. It's not fast but the machine does all of the work.

And it begins.

this is why you just print 1 (designed differently) so you can make a fiberglass plug then make as many as you want faster.

But I need 2, and I hate fiberglass work. That's why I'm 3d printing them. Pull em off, sand, paint, install, done. If you have a 3d printer you can make a set too. Hate hate hate fiberglass work.

Ok. Almost done. Time to slice up the rest.
