There is a 1988 Fiero 4 cyl in the Stockton Pick & Pull.....If someone can get there, save the brake calipers, front hubs and rear subframe/suspension. Also, the front light harness for conversion on older Fieros.
I would go but I can't be out in the sun at all due to Lupus (Do not take stomach acid reducers- they all can cause Lupus)

Oh and should we be adding checking gas tanks to this list? 87 and 88 gas tanks seem to be rare too.

Unfortunately Pick n Pull punctures all gas tanks before they make it to the yard. Never seen one that didn't have a big ugly hole in the bottom.
I've been thinking about heading down to Stockton to see that one but just can't find the time. I was curious about the vented hood if it was done well. Did you already go pull parts from it?
On a side note... We will be parting out a California rust-free Formula soon. This was Jenny's daily driver but developed a fatal case of rod knock. We are already pulling the interior for another car. I will probably pull the steering column, steering rack, calipers and fuel tank as well but all the suspension & cradle (with 2.8) will remain. I will probably replace the stock Formula wheels with some old wheels and tires I have, so it will be rollable (but probably not steerable). I will announce it's availability at some point soon (I hope). I would rather see it go to someone that can make use of it than to have it end up in the PnP yard to be crushed.

Agree most of the time they puncture them but if you are there may as well double check. I have not gone to see the one in Stockton but 88 database guy said it was last seen on ebay with a v8 and there's a v8 note on row52.
I have a 87 v6 long block ill probably be sending to the scrapper. In favor of keeping a 88 short block just in case.

true, unless you get lucky like I did. Found an 88 with the gas tank in the pass seat. PO was fixing it up and I guess got fed up, put all the parts in the pass seat/floorboard. Scored a perfect, clean gas tank. When I went up to buy it, they didn't have a price for a tank, b/c they don't sell them.

That was a lucky find! Like finding a really nice set of GT taillights on the car. Actually happened to me once a few years back.
Pick n Pull does list a price for:
Fuel Tank(May Be Punctrd) $35.99 (plus $5.99 core deposit)
The core deposit for a tank with a big hole in it kinda cracked me up. :

Unless someone swapped the entire body, it doesn't appear to be an 88. It has the Aero notchback with ribbed side mouldings. Also, while the wheels are gold lace, the offset of the front wheels is not correct for an 88 front. It could be 4 back wheels or earlier lace wheels painted gold, which is what I'm leaning toward given how bright the gold is. I know it possible and fairly easy to swap all that, but it's also pretty easy for a Pick N Pull employee to hit select the wrong year.
Edit to add > This is the one we are talking about right?

A couple of things from perusing that picture; A) The hood vent is interesting, but it's location would require modifying the frunk...
B) Those front wheels are definitely 86-87 GT wheels (15 x 7) and have less inward offset....If you look at the position of the tire vs the fender edge, it appears to be sticking out quite a bit...Which would tend to confirm that the car has 88 front suspension....
On both of these it would be best to do an actual in-person inspection before confirming my suspicions....
