Replacement Outer Door Skin Washers (DIY 3D Print) (Page 1/1)
rafinger DEC 13, 11:50 PM
Hey there! Creating this thread, as opposed to posting in my own build thread, so it can be easily searched for and found.

I had to drill through one of the proprietary bolt/washer pieces when removing my driver side outer door skin. I saw there aren't any being produced by the Fiero Store or any other supplier, so I made new ones myself! If you want/need to make your own, the Thingiverse link with the 3D print file, as well as an editable format, is down below. It's designed to be used with the a standard countersunk (flathead) M6-1.0 x 16 mm bolt, resulting in a something very close to how they came from the factory. I used a Phillips head for mine, which is how the hardware on the 1984 Fieros came, but you can use a torx head just like the 1985-1988 models if you want to. Hope these can help somebody!

Interesting.... They used to be available. Wherever the Fiero Store was getting them from, might've discontinued them.

But more to the point: Your method is probably superior to the factory design. The stock factory version has a black plastic "cap" on the top of the bolt but unfortunately it is much too easy to ruin it when you try to unscrew it (because the plastic has a matching Phillips or Torx pattern on it). The plastic isn't strong enough to withstand the force you need to unscrew it.

Good job with including the STEP.

STL files are often trash, and when there's a problem with it, it's a huge PITA to rectify it.
