My Son who drives my 87 ttop as his daily driver has always wanted a 3800sc 5 speed. He works fulltime at Auto Zone has been saving his money to one day get and or build one. Well Yesterday we picked up a 3800cs 5 speed that was complete and just needs paint and some frontend work. I drove it home for him. It was an 80 mile trip and it ran great. Just a loose frontend. The car swap is done very well/ The motor only has 10,000 miles on it. It is freshly rebuilt. It has coil overs in the rear and a 3.4 zzp pully on it. It came with a whole bunch of paperwork. on the costs to get it where it is now. So the plan is to part it till after winter and start on it one section at a time.

In my opinion, the 10.5mm plug wires are not very good.
I had a set and one of the wire boots melted! Another one started to short out when hot.
The size of these wires makes them prone to be too close to the exhaust manifolds.

I went back to stock style wires from RockAuto - not even an expensive set!
And because you can bend these wires up and away from the manifold quickly, they don't get as near to the hot parts.
Since then I've had no ignition problems.

Rafe

Congrats and welcome to the 3800 SC Club

As for zzp coil packs sorry but they are not as good as factory ones.
I had a set and quickly returned back to originals.
Looking forward to some mods that only daddy knows best lol
