Ok, I am at a loss here.......
I have an 87 GT 2.8 Automatic that one day just would not start. If I spray starting fluid into the TB, it will run for just a second till it burns off. This rules out the coil, plugs, wires, and probably the computer.
When I turn the Key ON, I can hear the fuel pump prime. Pressing down on the Schroeder[SP?] valve, fuel squirts out, thus the pump is supplying fuel & pressure. The fuel pump was replaced a few months ago with an AC Delco, I made sure to use fuel PROOF line inside the tank.
I have recently replace the module, coil, cap, rotor, and wires. is there one, or are there 2 fuel injectors in the 2.8? I always thought there was just one, but the fuse block has INJ1 and INJ2 5amp fuses. (Both are good). If there is one, then it would not nothing if it failed. If there are 2, shouldn't I get a little popping of firing when I crank it over? I get NOTHING unless I spray starter fluid in it. Patrick confirmed there are 6 injectors, one for each cylinder. I USED to know this DUH! I don't know why I was thinking of the duke with a single injector.......
Reasoning this through, come up with a bad fuel injector (if there is only one), Or, no injector pulse from the computer.
Any other ideas or suggestions without just randomly throwing time and money at it?
ANY advice or help is much appreciated![This message has been edited by JohnWPB (edited 09-13-2020).]

John, the V6 has 6 injectors, which fire in two banks of 3, so the INJ1 fuse is for one bank, and the INJ2 fuse is for the other.

Wow, I was honestly now aware that the 2.8 was multi-port FI. Actually at one point I am sure I knew this. Been a long time since messing with the 2.8. my main Fiero has a 3800SC swap. So that rules out a bad injector. It would certainly run, or at least "pop" when you cranked it just one or even 2 injectors out. [This message has been edited by JohnWPB (edited 09-13-2020).]

I'll have to check and see if both banks have a common ground. If it does and it's bad, that would explain why none of them were firing, if that's the issue.

If you're able to, get a test light and see if there is a pulse signal from the injector driver. The pink and pink/ white wires are from the fuse block side. The blue and green wires go to the injector driver in the computer. [This message has been edited by 1984whitesc (edited 09-13-2020).]

Have you checked fuel pressure with a gauge? You may have low pressure resulting in fuel coming from the schrader, but not enough to run the engine.
I think Autozone has a noid light loaner that should let you see if the injectors are receiving the fire signal. I would think that even losing an entire bank of injectors would still have the engine firing instead of just dead. Here is a schematic if it helps.

My money is on the ignition module. It provides a signal to the ECM to fire the injectors, as well as a signal for spark. It's possible for one circuit to fail and not the other.
