My new 88GT... Looking for some history if anyone knows about it (Page 1/3)

I bought a new fiero for some sprint racing at the local race tracks. Its a 3.4TDC swap, lots of custom work all over the car, very well done. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about the history of it, I basically dug it out of a barn after some "Lemons" guys raced it and parked it for something like 10 years. It had a ruined block from freezing, and a horrid exhaust that had fallen apart... So i've put a new motor in and made a new exhaust for it, first race is in 2 weeks.

Some things that might help identify it... my pictures are horrible.

1. "milspec" wiring harness bulkhead connector (super fun)
2. all of the sheet metal was completely removed from the rear half of the car and replaced with heim jointed rods and brackets.
3. Held Motorsports front suspension
4. Originally had Porsche brakes on it
5. Hand made red interior, complete with custom gauge cluster and center console.
6. So far I havent found a VIN number.

I don't know any thing about it but I would like to see pics of the rear suspension and front suspension. Thanks for posting, nice to see you here again.

Just for fun, I was able to track down a couple of pictures of this Fiero... and possibly a video shot in it during a race.

First from Facebook... Last Lap of Capital Offense 2011 - Driving for Rusty Tear Racing

Even if this isn't the same Fiero, you can navigate to the Facebook site of Kiss My Tail Lights Racing from there. The following image is from that site.

And then this shot was found at Flickr.

Thanks Patrick! Those are the dudes I bought it from, and they told me that they were the 3rd owners, and bought it in almost the same condition (less their multiple crashes).

I am doing some tires tonight, and i can try to talk about the suspension in detail and take over my not crappy phone camera. There is a custom setup on the tophats, that allows for a Nissan Maxima Koni shock to be fit into the back. The front is the standard Held 84-87 coilover conversion suspension with drop knuckles.

Dark, you going to be recording your racing in this thing?

What motor did you put into it?

That's a dumb question, Dark is the ultimate 3800 guy. :-)

Man, I couldnt refuse the "track record" that the previous owners had with the TDC, so I tossed a 94 motor back in it.

I have a cradle, and a L67, ready at a moments notice though. The class I want to run in has a pretty solid power limit around 200whp, so there is no reason to get fancy just yet. When I get into a no rules class I'll start down the 800hp road again, lol.

Nice barn find! That looks pretty nice for a Lemons racer. Over the price limit for sure with those mods.

Can it still be street legal?

Still no videos or anything yet.. but I managed to get a good test drive in today. It will easily blow the old 255 tires off in 2nd gear though, its a very confusing amount of power for this crappy little v6.

New exhaust is awesome, quiet until you're making some power then its just loud enough.
