Hi everyone, throw me some comments? I love the GT nose but always thought it looked a little bare or naked. So , During quarantine,I went to the garage and came up with some ideas. I’m around 60%-40% Love Hate. It’s a hard plastic mesh and locked up the Pegasus logo in the center. I got tough skin, what do you think?👍or👎

Hey American Exotic, up here in Ontario Canada we have the front opening blocked with the license plate but I like the look of yours! Adds a classy touch. Gotta love the GT Look yeah?

I am not a fan of the GT nose- But I think your mods look good......I think the biggest improvement on any Fiero front end is some sort of hood vent- I am a fan of using the defrost grill in a hood vent- some day I'll have to work up the courage to do it......

Not to thread-jack, but your vent looks good too- and I really like your color scheme.
If I do the vent, I want to make a flap that closes it during hot days so that I don't get Radiator-heated air in my ventilation system (I don't have A/C)......(My brain is always running...and sometimes it's actually in gear!)

Very nice! My thought was that you shouldn't be able to see the paint color behind the grill so I would suggest either painting behind the grill black or apply some black vinyl since is easily removed if you don't like it. The Pegasus on the otherhand seems redundant to me (with the stock one just a few inches above it.) Perhaps nix the stock one so the focal point becomes the new one? It's easy to try these mods out with Photoshop ...

Closing the flap on hot days would totally defeat the whole purpose of installing the hood vent in the first place! I have a hood vent (and no A/C), and any hot air coming out of the vent and then into the cowl area/ventilation system is absolutely negligible.
If hot air was exiting out a vent at the back of the hood, as seen in This thread, then I could foresee a problem.

American Exotic.......The front end treatment looks great! My '87 GT is the same color with the lowers silver. I have been thinking about painting the lowers to match the upper body, you photo has inspired me to go ahead with it.

I have had this argument with a couple of people; The vent is there to eliminate LIFT on the front end due to air pressure under the front hood. My car has no problem with overheating- even on hot days....On a HOT day when I am NOT driving in competition event, I would prefer to shut that hood vent so that I am getting the coolest air possible into the ventilation system.
I also got into arguments about what I did to my '73 Mustang to improve it's aerodynamics; I built an airdam that was tapered to the sides and only allowed air into the engine compartment below the bumper in front of the radiator, with a reverse angle lower lip.....Then I completely blocked the grill (From the inside) so that NO air would go in except that allowed under the bumper (Basically a "Bottom breather"). My two friends that I had arguments with stated "You don't have enough air getting to the radiator- the car will overheat immediately!"...I drove up thru Redding (Check normal summer temps there) and no overheating at all.
The car originally rammed every bit of air hitting the front end below the hood lip into the engine compartment- them, (Of course) had nowhere to escape except under the floor...Driving in a diagonal headwind at 65 mph the car felt like the tires were barely touching the ground!
After my mod, I passed 3 semis and two cars at 95 mph on Highway 97.......It felt like it was on rails! A friend of mine who competes in the Optima Ultimate Streetcar Challenge with a 66 Mustang (With a Nascar 351 engine (800 hp) saw what I did and blocked off his grill also....He came in # 6 against Race prepped C6 Vettes....

Notorious, I didn’t think about black behind the grill but I will consider. I have black vinyl so it would be worth a shot. Easily removable if I don’t approve! Also , Creaky, that’s what I have and that’s what I did.87 GT and painted the grey. I was never a huge fan of the two tone, just not my personal style. I painted the lower and thought it looked like a new car. I was extremely happy. Good Luck with yours and keep us posted. Thanks for the feedback 👍
