What is the going price for a complete factory Sub-woofer system? (Page 1/2)
qwikgta APR 08, 05:00 PM
This weekend I pulled the factory sub-woofer system from my 88 GT. The harness is uncut and is complete from the power supply under the dash, to the gain control on the overhead console. I also pulled the factory amp and removed the sub box. The sub-woofer is the Rodney Dickman upgrade. This system was in my 88 GT, and I only pulled it b/c I am upgrading the whole system and installing a 6" sub in a home-made box under the dash.

I don't think i'll use the stuff again and I don't need it sitting around, but I don't know how much this would sell for. Whats the going price for a factory Sub system?

Thanks in advance.

Someone had asked $150 for system previously.

First off, it's not complete. Close, but not.

I have seen them "sell" as low as $100.00 and as high as $325.00.

Yours? $150.00 would be very fair.

What's missing? I might be interested in it for my '88.

Lenses were off to remove the overhead, just not put back in for photo and what is a "channel for wire harness"?

If you pull the carpet aside the runs along the center "well" on the passenger side, there is a black "channel" piece. It's not too hard to get to - you just have to remove the passenger city, center console and shift surround I believe to access it. It's been a few years since I messed with one. Someone here likely has a picture of it...

The under carpet panel that has the slot the amplifier sits in?

again, not in the picture b/c i figured that every car has one, just like the one on the other side of the car where the cruise control box was sitting. obviously I have it, I had to remove the seats, center console and carpet to get this all out. I have both of those plastic panels sitting in a box with the COMPLETE factory sub-woofer system.

Thanks for keeping me honest.

It's not a matter of honesty, it's a matter of clarity. I have seen some people "claim" to have a complete system only to have the overhead console, the sub box and some cut up wires. There is a big difference between thinking (or saying) something is complete and actually having something that is complete. Some people don't know the difference between the two. No different that people selling "used" parts and calling them NOS because they are factory parts. Used parts are not NOS parts, they are used. NOS parts are New Old Stock factory parts.

Getting back to the topic, a complete unit will always be worth more than an incomplete unit. Although some people don't see it that way. Those people compare apples to oranges.
