You may want to be cautious about what he sells.

I find it very odd that as rare as they are, he sells 15-20 (perhaps more) NOS GT trunk weatherstrips per year for about 2-1/2 years now.

He lists them as NOS but none have their original GM part numbered box and they are $215.00 each plus shipping.

That is a lot to get screwed on.

I know how you feel, Thunderstruck GT. I feel the same way as you do. At first, I thought maybe he buys it from Fiero store & lied about it.

I bought one from him & compared it to Fiero store pictures from a customer who bought it from TFS. Two completely different sets.

Pat's looks original to me. I've asked Pat questions on where he buys it from. He said he checks GM inventory online & also from closed GM dealers.

So, there's no way he buys it from Fiero store because it has a different shape in corners than from TFS.

I have owned these and still have at least 1. Every one came in a cardboard box with a GM label which listed the group and part numbers. None of this guy's is in the box.

Assuming he came across a mother load, I think you would agree that 10 would be a lot. He sells 10 in 6 months. As rare as these are it just don't add up.

As far as GM having a stash of them...... Don't you think the Fiero community would have got wind of it? After all, there are a lot of people looking for them.

Another thing..... Wasn't there someone else besides TFS repopping them?

Yeah, Will's Trunk Seal... where corners were not fused together like OEM and glued together with addition rubber taping.

If I can get to mine I'll snap a shot and we can see, if someone doesn't post their's first.

But as I recall, there's more than just the corners.

Also, if I correctly recall, the GM piece almost looked like it had a narrow strip of rubber (possibly for reinforcement) in the corners. Not 100% sure about that one though.

Well, the corners are the only way you could tell where it came from. I believe GM had several different corners designed when they went thru several different contractors.

Someone claimed this design is also from GM.



Also, Will had several different corners done too. The pic with Will's Trunk Seal label as shown in previous post is the last design before he decided to close his business.

To me, the one from Pat's GM Parts looks original.

Having been in the manufacturing business for over 40 years, I can tell you that parts vendors change all the time during production. The Fiero was made for 5 years, and possibly had 5 different vendors (or more) for the rubber trunk weatherstripping, each with different configurations. GM sends out their specs for a part, and the suppliers send in samples and bids on pricing. So, ALL the photos that have been included could ALL be "genuine GM", but from different parts suppliers.
