NOLA visit (Page 1/1)
Quad GT DEC 12, 05:48 PM
Coming to New Orleans for first time in Jan 9 to Jan 12
Any ideas what to do and where to stay
My rich buddies are staying at Bourbon Orleans Hotel but id like something a bit cheaper then $1200 for 4 days but still close to them.
How is the Fiero community?

Stay somewhere in the Quarter. The Bourbon Street Hotel is a good one . There's also one on Royal Street (runs parallel to Bourbon) but I can't remember the name. Cafe du Monde is good for cafe au lait and biegnets around the clock. The cathedral on Chartres is interesting and there are some decent museums. The House of Jazz is pretty good (or was the last time I was there and you could get a decent cheeseburger at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Cafe. The ye olde absinthe house can mess you up if you''re not careful. Absinthe will make you crazy, they say. Definitely try the red beans and rice with Cajun sausage for lunch at about any cafe.

Getting out of the city there are some interesting plantations to see and Longue Vue House and Gardens isn't a bad way to kill a few hours.

Enjoy your trip.

BTW, New Orleans French and Quebecois French aren't quite the same even if they did both come from Arcadian French.

The College Football Championship game is on January 13 at the Superdome in New Orleans so hotel rooms are going to be very expensive and hard to find that week. It will be even worse if LSU is in the game. Lots of great boutique hotels in that area. I would suggest checking out some of the hotels on the other side of Canal Street from the French Quarter. Do the usual hotels.com, Expedia, etc. Good luck.

All kinds of great things to do in N.O. besides drink in the Quarter. Go and have a great time drinking, dancing, eating but don’t do too much of any one so that you can’t enjoy the others. This is from experience. I am a born and raised New Orleanian and for my whole life I have done too much of all of the above!

I have owned Fieros since 1985 and am sorry to say there is very little to no Fiero community in the area. I live just outside of New Orleans and know of only three other owners in a 100 mile radius. Have only seen two other Fieros at local cruise nights in the past 10 years. If there are others around, please post!

Hope you have a great time. PM me if there is anything I can do to make your visit a great one.

Wrong. Quebecois French did not come from Acadian French.
