Fieros at Lassen Nat'l Park in 1994 (Page 1/1)

First, I apologize for not having taken any pics of this situation......

My favorite camping place is Lassen Volcanic Nat'l Park in N. CA......It is nicknamed "The One and Lonely Nat'l Park" because everyone goes to Yosemite and the Redwoods but few have even HEARD of Lassen. I am fascinated by Geology and especially volcanoes- But I also love this area because my Mother grew up near there and my Father used to go fishing up there often.
I would usually leave my home in the Bay Area at 5 am, and then get up to the southern entrance by 9-9:30. They used to have a Ski Chalet, and a restaurant up stairs in the Chalet. I would order an Omelet with all the trimmings and sit on the deck eating it with the snowy mountains all around, the creek gurgling underneath.......Heaven!
Back around 1994, I went up with my girlfriend, and parking in front of the Chalet, noticed a '86 gold Fiero SE parked there. We went up and as I ordered, I found that it belonged to the lady behind the counter. Later, as we walked back to the car, we noticed ANOTHER Fiero parked there also!
This was a white '85 GT, and they were on their way from Canada to Monterey for a Fiero car meet. I want to make something clear here; This is in the middle of absolute nowhere- At least an hour drive from ANY major highway, and though the Fieros were everywhere back in the mid-to-late 80s, by the mid 90's they were much less prevalent. To see three of them (By accident) parked together there was really amazing.

Note; They ripped down the Chalet and have just a Visitor Center w/gedunk there now- Lassen is wonderful- but make sure the road over the pass from one side of the park to the other is open (It is over 100 miles to circle around) I have been up there on the 4th of July- and there was 40 FEET of snow at the pass which did not open until MID-july that year! There are cabins in the area, but also camping is very good. (By the way, Lassen erupted back in 1915- there are all kinds of volcanic features and all four different types of Volcanoes) (If you decide to go to Lassen, I have a guide w/ map and pics that I can Email you)

Thanks! I know it's an old story from way back, but it kind of blew my mind when it happened.
