Anyone else ever own one of these ? We had one for several years and love that little car. Had a lot of fun over those years. Best ever was got into a race with a Vette on the Dan Ryan ( I-94 ) in Chicago. Poor guy couldn't shake me, everytime he looked in his rearview there I was. He finally ramped off and shot me the bird that made me laugh. We hit 100 MPH a few times zipping in and out of traffic. Wife called it her fall in crawl out of car being it was so low to the ground....

I like Fieros as much as anyone... but you're trying to tell us that a Vette couldn't shake a 92 HP 4-banger Fiero?

Maybe it was one of those wheezy 165hp 'Vettes from the mid-70s? Nah, it'd still run away from a Duke... had to have been a 50s-era version with the BlueFlame 6 in it.

84 speedo, only goes to 85. How do you know you were going 100?
The vette must have been 2 cylinders misfiring for you to keep up.

I've not seen one in a LONG time. For that matter, it's rare for me to see a Fiero anywhere other than a car show. But maybe 15-20 years ago, I'd seen a few of them driving around. There was one that was in REALLY nice shape that I used to see at the local "Tower Shops" car show that took place every Friday in down-town Davie in front of the Home Depot.

It was a HUGE event down in South Florida, and the entire parking lot was packed, every single Friday. I'm not really sure why this became an issue, but eventually the car show was eliminated... and they were forced out. They built a Trader Joes and some other shops right in the middle of the parking lot where the car show used to be. I think they do something further up the road, but it never regained the attendance it once had.

Anyway, sorry... rambling. I saw one at the junkyard, and really spent some time checking it out. Like all 84 Fieros, there was a bit more attention to detail on things, and a lot of one-year only parts. But the Indy of course (as you well know) has other unique things. I can't remember... red seats, right? badging, logos, etc...

There was a super-rare option that was SUPPOSED to come stock on the Indy which never did. There's excerpts from some of the early manuals that you can still find that talked about it. But, there was supposed to be a "rally package" that would install in place of where the map pocket cover would go. It's been YEARS since I've even looked at it, but there was supposed to be a large clock, a timer, a compass, and some other gage that I can't remember.

I'd love to try to look that up again, it's been a while.

... anyway, I don't know if any Fiero ever ended up coming with one, maybe not even one of the early prototypes.

Sold mine a few months ago.
Cool story bro.
The vette guy, was playing with you. he could've gapped you and sailed into the sunset if he wanted too.
Mine was fun, and like a go-cart, quick enough to be fun, but wasn't "quick" nor fast by any measure.
And the gumball machine that is the duke let you know it wasn't a fan of you winding it up.
And 65mph the engine was at 3000rpm+/- so if you got to 85 mph it was buzzing.
iirc the red line was like 4800 rpm

I agree the vette was probably playing with the duke. However, mine hits 85 mph at 3000 Rpm. I could probably hit 100 downhill if I could handle the vibration.
