3d printed shift surround base frame uploaded to thingaverse (Page 1/1)

I designed and 3D printed a new base to replace the broken one in my shift surround. I have uploaded the .stl file to Thingaverse for anyone who would like to make one for themselves.

Old broken part and new 3D printed replacement part.

Covered in upholstery foam

Finished product. (All the old foam needs to be removed before installing the vinyl on the new frame.) I used CA glue to bond the vinyl to the frame and binder clips to hold it in place while the glue cured.

I'm using a FLsun i3 plus I purchased as a kit and have modified with a 110vac heated bed and a PEI sheet to be able to print ABS without it warping. I use ABS filament for all the car stuff I make because it will stand up to the heat a car interior can see on a sunny day.

Speaking from my own experience... ABS is good but not completely impervious to car-heat shrinking. You'll get about 2% shrinkage over time.
