Question.....Those plastic lug nut covers..... If "they" designed those covers to cover what some might think to be ugly lug nuts, then why does the plastic cover look like a lug nut anyway ?????

They are employed to keep moisture off of the threads of the stud.

You watched the Doug DeMuro video, huh?

Basic question about this... What would you make them look like??? dice... globes... triangles.... bumps... People expect to see lug nuts on wheels. How ever who wants to see rusty threads and lug nuts?? Simple soulution if you ask me. They look nice and cover the ugly lug nuts that are impossible to keep looking that nice.

Plus, they also cover the factory locking lug nuts... which makes all the lug nuts look the same. IMO, that's a real bonus.

Yea, I saw Dougs video. Don't hear me wrong, they do look good and serve a purpose. I just wanted to see the comments I'd get. Thought it was kinda funny myself.

I did disagree with Dougs scoring though. Obviously you could see the enjoyment he was having while road testing that GT. He should have scored the car higher in my opinion.

the alternative would be to just cover them completely. I don't think it's weird they look like lug nuts(it did fool me the first time i changed a tire though) as their job is not to hide the lug nuts, but protect them. But when it does come to looks, i would say i prefer the 'center cap' design that just hides everything

Yeah, thieves prefer them as well. I don't like anything on my cars that just pops off.

Doug is an idiot. They don't look like the unfinished lug nuts at all. The guy really is a super-genius level tard. He wants something Bedazzled due to his latency.
Pontiac and other GM just use the design to hide the zinc plated open-ended (unattractive) lug nuts.

Seems strange we're suddenly so fixated on these plastic lug nut covers. Hasn't GM been using them for like 30 years already? I have plastic base-model hubcaps which I use on my winter steel rims on my Cobalt SS and they have the same plastic lugnuts; the only difference is they're contained in a little groove to hold the hubcaps on. Come to think of it, our old Honda Accord used the same thing.
