It's Alex and Bobby's fantastic custom and it seems to have burned.
Is there a thread here somewhere that I missed that has more info?

That happened last year. I heard of it through the Facebook page. It started at the interior, possibly HVAC.

The only good thing that comes from a tragedy such as this is a root cause / root analysis investigation can be done to educate other owners about things they can do to prevent the same mishap such as happened.
It would also be a good place to list all preventive steps we can take to avoid fires in our Fieros.
What is that one about leaves in the heater box ?

I found the CoPart Auction for the car.. What an absolute shame!
I have to wonder who bought it, and for how much just out of extreme curiosity. There were definitely a couple parts I would like to have, the front and rear bumper for starters There are no photos of the engine bay, I would imagine with all the custom work, it had a swap done. It looks to have had an Amida dash in it from what you can make out.....
I am NO fire inspector, or investigator in any way, so I could be WAY off...... That said:
It does not appear to be a resistor/heater box fire. I would think the hood would be far more burned on the passenger side. Pictures of heater box fires that I can recall in my head had a significant burn spot at the rear of the hood, passenger side, right above the heater box.

I agree....perhaps the combustibles were in the fan....but it looks more rearward...perhaps a radio or other non-stock wiring in the instrument panel.

The car did have a 3800SC swap but it did not originally have one of Rob Amida's dashes in it in 2006.
It had a customized Archie dash that Bobby and Alex installed with some of the panels painted to match the exterior of the car.
I don't think Rob had even started making and selling his dash until long after this car was built.
Somewhere in my files I have a pretty extensive "photo journal" of this car from it's debut at Daytona from '06. I'll have to find it and add "the end of the story" photos.[This message has been edited by randye (edited 05-07-2019).]

That hood ? I have seen others like it and have always liked that look. However, I prefer to keep mine stock. I do though have an 86GT parts car with a normal hood.
I am thinking why not ? If for some reason mine needs a new hood, I could live with that on mine till I found a regular looking hood.
Is it functional ? Does it help with cooling the radiator ? What's a good thread to see what I need and how to do it ?
Thanks.
