Over the years the paint on my deck lid (silver 85 GT) has turned a darker, flat grey color. Call it clear coat peel, oxidation, whatever, if you take your fingernail and scratch the surface, it will reveal the silver paint underneath. To remove all of it would be a wearisome task. I tried Goo-Gone, rubbing compound but it’s been slow going. (my fingernail seems to do better) There’s got to be a better, faster and easier way to get to the first layer of silver paint so it looks half decent for the summer. Anyone tackle their deck lid that was like this? Thanks, Kit

Elbow grease or an electrical high speed polisher are my methods. I use Meguire's products. Patience and practice. That, or take it to a detail shop for about $150 or so. It really is a job that takes skill and patience to run a polisher and not burn the paint. Check out some YouTube videos. GL.
