Hi everyone,
Gosh, this started 11 years ago. When I was 21, I bought an 84 Fiero from a local enthusiast. I was in college and finally starting to get my life on track. The car wasn't road legal and so I tinkered away on it while finishing up my degree. I learned quite a bit about cars and how special the Fiero is in the grand scheme of things. America STILL has yet to build another production, mid-engine car, whose availability isn't restricted to the elites of society.
Anyway, when I graduated, I lucked out and found a good local job that let me buy a reliable daily driver. I decided to try an engine swap and install a 3.4 DOHC. I wanted that little car to have the power is deserves. Unfortunately, I turned into a workaholic, burned out quickly, then limped along for another 8 years. My poor Fiero, and the rest of my life, suffered as I turned into a depressed robot that slept, ate, and worked.
I tried to self-medicate and clean my life up a few years ago. I started cleaning out the house and decided to sell the Fiero, to remove the guilt from my life of letting it rot. It wasn't the source of my depression, but it was a contributing factor. Just another reason to tell myself I was worthless. I listed the car here. The original seller and a few other people contacted me to express their disappointment in me. I didn't sell it. I just felt worse. I don't blame them. They didn't know my situation and it really wasn't their problem. They just saw a car left to die by yet another unreliable diy'er.
Fast forward another couple of years to the present. I'm in actual therapy and am finally getting the help I've needed for a long time. Earlier this week, for the first time in a long time, I actually felt that I wanted to be alive. There's a long way to go, but I feel like that's important.
I looked out in my driveway and saw my poor Fiero sitting there covered in snow. Even in its current state, it's still special. Normally, I don't even like cars made by GM. The Fiero is unique.
I know I've drawn the ire of some Fiero fans and members of this community over the years. Should I try again? Would those people hate me for torturing the car further? I kinda feel like I should be shunned from the forum. What do you think?

There are people who have let projects stall for longer periods. If rebuilding the fiero will give you joy, I'm sure most people on this forum will be happy to give advice and technical information. Good luck and welcome.

Don't let yourself feel any guilt about how you have treated your Fiero.....Although we here are all Fiero enthusiasts, I would say that all of us agree that Number ONE on your list must be your own health.......
Also don't worry about any opinions you may run into....YOUR opinion is your main concern.......Both of you and of your work on your car. And remember that we are here to enjoy life, not simply work/make money/etc......I have run into Fiero enthusiasts who think that absolute STOCK is the only right way to have a Fiero, and I have also run into people who think that the only worthy project is to make a Fiero look like a Lambo/Ferrari/Spaceship......I think we should all just relax and enjoy all the interesting Fiero projects.
Write a list of what you need to get done to get the car up and running.......then, when you have time, do a little each day......I can get overwhelmed with too much work, so I make the list of important stuff and do a little each day and the next thing I know, I am ahead of the game. Just remember, don't write every little mod or choir down that you have dreamed of and then set a really tight time limit....it is easy to get overwhelmed.....

Both comments so true...
After sitting all this time, you may still be better off getting a newer/better car and selling this for parts. There's nothing worse than spending more to fix a wreck than a pristine car would have cost.

Thanks guys. I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm always so ready to condemn myself that I assume everyone else is too.
