Plastic Welding (Page 1/1)

I saw a segment on Wheeler Dealers where they used a nitrogen plastic welder to fix a body panel that had some cracks in it. It made me think, do you think this would work on our Fiero body panels / bumpers?

This was last week’s episode for the Volvo 850 T5-R starting at about 31 minutes into it if you’re watching with commercials.

It might work on the front and rear fascias, but for the other body panels, you have several materials molded together. Sheet Molded Compound (SMC).

It was mainly the front and rear fascias I was wondering about since they're the most commonly damaged I'd imagine.

So you're saying the Fiero bumpers are ThermoSet bumpers?

If you have cracks in bumper it would be better to glass behind and glue the bumper together. Then use a flexible filler to creat a flat surface. Mine have held up properly had some vandal break the front treading on the lower bumper and have since repaired it perfectly.

Use 3M EZ sand flexible parts repair. Its a 2 part Epoxy that dries to a flexible hardness. I've fixed many a facia, fender and quarter panel and it always held.
