One other question: how do you remove a stock MERA front bumper? Mine is slightly "IN" on one side, maybe the PO bumped the garage wall or something? no visible damage...but the left side is "in" about 1/2 more than the right side (or right side out too much, I don't know! lol)

any suggestions

FYI. Sent side view of #8071 with raised white letter tires. As for steering wheel I went with a black leather wrapped Nardi.

Thanks Rexgirl: I can see the square tube, and there is a cross bolt. both bolts seem to be in the same position. so I think the bumper got pushed further onto the square tube. I'll have to look more into it when it warms up.

Julian: thanks! got the picts. I really like the white letter out. Just enough different, more "american" looking! Its is a Pontiac!

JR: I know....I know....stock. However, its ALL can be removed and returned to "stock".

Here is the LIST of non stock items by the:

First owner: 1988 -2006: Miller-Woods Turbo, Stainless door sills, Wing above rear window, Hella driving lights, lowering spindles, 1" cut rear springs.
Second owner: 2006 - 2020: Nothing...no mods. drove it maybe 3k miles. garage queen (an ignored one at that).
Third owner: 2020 - ????: RED plug wires replaced with grey during tune (kept originals), New(er) pontiac stereo swapped in (kept OEM radio), new kicker 4x10 and 4x6 speakers, Short shifter installed with leather boot (kept original shifter and boot),
MOMO wheel going on, Formula wheel feels awkward (keeping it of course - no broken paddle horns). Lloyds Mats (tan with MERA 8118 in red).

Anything I'm doing is very quickly "undone". unlike the mods by the original owner.
So with the Mods that were already done.....mine are reverable, minor and will add to the fun driving experience. so heck....why not! I certainly can't UNDO the original mods.

Time to remove the 2003 BFG Rad. T/As! Car was lowered by 1" with drop spindle and cut rear spring. original sizes were on the car (265/50 and 245/50)

I want to match the tire brands Front and Rear, which really limits what I can install.

Here are my options:

Front Original: 245/50 H: 24.6, W: 9.6
Cooper Cobra G/T: 215/65 H: 25.9, W: 8.4
230/60 H: 26.1, W: 9.1
BFG Rad T/A 225/60 H: 25.6, W: 8.9

Rear Original: 265/50 H: 25.4, W:10.4 (kind big for 7" rim!)
Cooper Cobra G/T: 245/60 H: 26.4, W: 10
BFG Rad T/A 245/60 H: 26.4, W: 10

I'm leaning towards: 215/65 and 245/60 Coopers. Front 1.3" taller.....clearance issue??????? I don't know - but narrower. Rear: 1" taller, 0.4" narrower (ok)
If I go with 230/60 up front, its 1.5" taller.....I'm worried!

I wish Cooper made the 225/60! but only BFG does. looking at maybe $30 - $50 more per tire than Coopers....and I think Coopers are BETTER!

Comments? opinions? I even though: 230/60 on all four.....but only for a second! I like the wider rear tires!!!!!!!

Well....seems the promise of Coopers was short lived. Tire shop says there are NOT available, anywhere. Still good sizes....but the shelves are bare for the 215/65s

Bit the bullet and ordered up: BFG Radial T/As. 225/60 front 245/60 rear. a little taller, a little narrower....but should be good.

Following tires, alignment!

Are you prepared to spend a lot of money to get this Mera or are you looking for a low cost bargain?

Exhaust questions:

1) Is the MERA a completely different exhaust than the 88 Formula exhaust system?
2) If MOSTly, the same....what is different.
3) I have a Miller-woods stage 1 set up....does it use the MERA stock exhaust?

I need to find out what exhaust I have....I believe its original to the car. Can some of you fine Mera-ists; post some exhaust detail picts please?? stock and otherwise???

thanks

Rodney Dickman makes Mera repro tailpipes out of 409 Stainless, I am pretty sure that they attach to the factory muffler where the original Fiero tailpipes attached. I have a pair on my Mera and they are excellent quality.

Same exhaust as the 88 V6. I am currently running a 3.4 turbo on an 87 Mera and did not modify the original exhaust other than to use some of Rodney's replacement tail pipes.
