New rear wheel bearings going on my 85 GT.
I learned a new “trick” (new to me anyways) on removing the hub / cv axle nut. You simply remove the center cap from your wheels, (I have aftermarket 17X7’s) put the wheels back on, lower the car on the ground and loosen / break free the axle nut, jack the car back up, loosen lug nuts, remove the wheels and loosen axle nut the rest of the way. 😊

Not today, been busy recently, but in the past week I:

- Replaced the fuel pump after sitting for a year. Nice to drive again.
- I bought a double din radio skeleton, wired up my radio, just waiting on some parts to arrive to start buttoning everything down.
- Sunroof was leaking after I washed the car so I checked the drain holes on the sunroof, cleaned them out and tested them. They work. I will have to wash the car again to see if it's better now. The holes appeared to be blocked out completely.

Made a plug n play auto headlight set up. Works great. Now I just have to clean it up and finish the installation and button everything back up.

I suspect that plugged up (with crap) sunroof drain holes are what have caused the vast majority of sunroof leaks reported here over the years.

Hardware swapped a passenger seat bottom to replace my torn driver side, then ran the upholstery extractor over the entire thing and reinstalled.

i spent the last few days converting my passinger door to power windows.its summer so i need control of the window from the drivers seat.i also replaced the window strips which was a pain in the butt.STUPID DESIGN.it was stupid to make a door glass that you can't remove from the door with a wrench.i had to unbolt all the tracks and riser mechanism to get the glass free to wiggle it to the max to get to the weatherstrip screws.gm could have put notches in the glass BUT NO.i used the wiring harness and power regulator from a junk car.it bolted right in.i used 12 guage irrigation wire to run to the switch.i know that sounds strange but its rated at 20 amps and is designed to be buried so its tough.i replaced the bad rollers and coated the tracks with lithium grease.i temporarily ran the wire to a the fiero store switch temporarily hooked to the cigarette lighter.im finished with the door.i used the door panel that came with the power mechanisms.the door panel doesn't look bad for being 40 years old.it works pretty well.pretty quick.i did swap out the motor for a motor from my junk reatta which i had replaced from rockauto a few years ago.

today i pulled my driver door inner panel off.i wd40d the piss out of the door latch trying to get the lock mechanism working.the inner slider now works but it seems the key doesn't fit the door lock.it fits the other door and engine cover.so i thought i'll just swap them door for door.then i found out id have to remove both outer door panels.i may try to remove the drivers side and get it rekeyed.

This tale started many, many moons ago when my left taillight lens was damaged with a pointed object which ‘punctured’ the top-right corner of the reverse lamp area....

A couple of years ago, I was super lucky to stumble on of a brand-new genuine General Motors lenses, so I put the taillight on my Fiero refurbish list.

Finally last summer, I removed the taillight assemblies from the GT to replace the lenses; however, I found the OEM ‘chrome’ plating on the reflectors are in terrible condition with black areas…

So, I restored the reflectors with polished aluminum tape and an UV stable clear coating...

But the summer sun heat was gone as fall began...

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Today I completed the mission by installing new butyl tape....

Placed the taillight parts in the summer sun for an hour to warm-up the plastic and soften the butyl seal...

Mounted the brake light / turn signal inserts into the lenses...

Then aligned the parts and slowly to press the lens into the housing, until all the tabs lock firmly into the hooks...Voilà!

Another task checked out on the Fiero list!
