I don't think it's number 7006. From what I've found, that is number 6325, mine is 6334. batousai666, I sent you an email containing the Mera tag for your records. This car is originally out of Glendale, CA but I bought it in mid-michigan.

That number does not make a lot of sense to me based on what I know about Mera numbering. The first number should be the year it was made (7=1987 and 8=1988) and the remaining three digits should be the production number for that year. If this number is correct the vehicle was made in 1986 and was either number 325 or 334. Note that the commonly utilized Mera production total was 247 and did not start until 1987 (except for the 1986 prototype).

Nelson,
You are correct on the Mera numbering, except there have been a few confirmed early Mera's that Dan (Mera X) has confirmed as Mera's. The Mera number on my new one appears to be the last 4 digits of the vin. I have original documentation from the first owner. The vin decoder shows it as a 1987 Fiero GT. I sent Mera X a picture of the tag for his collection. Dan (Mera X) has confirmed Mera #7006 has a Mera tag similar to mine, showing 6325 (last 4 of the vin). The other confusing thing is old posts state the vins are not necessarily in order of the Mera number. So this doesn't mean that mine is after the confirmed Mera #7006 or before. So this is a little confusing, and I'm hoping to figure it out. It has the original Mera nose sticker, wheel stickers, trunk lid, and appears to have the original untouched Mera tag under the trunk lid. Long lost Mera maybe? Fingers crossed!

On a separate note, need help on tires. The only thing I can find are 215/65R15 for the front and 255/60R15 or 275/50R15 for the back. Will these fit on a stock Mera without issues? I've looked through the old posts about tire sizes but these are the closest sizes I can find. Any help is appreciated!

The earliest Mera in my collection is 7014 and it has a relatively stock Mera build tag. For what it is worth, I have never seen a Mera build tag with anything other than what I stated earlier. However, who really knows what might have happened with the first few builds. WRT tires, I can possibly help out with some additional information. The last time I checked, the 265 x 50 x 15 tires were still available from Mastercraft and Hankook. I have never managed to locate any 245 x 50 x 15 tires but have successfully used the 265s on all four corners with the Chromadora wheel.

Nelson,
Thanks for the reply on the tires. I found some locally, but I may need to add spacers to the back as I have the Fiero rims, not the chromandos and the tires are really close in the rear (I went a little wider in back). I have the original warranty paperwork and it shows a delivery date of July 11, 1987 to the first owner in Glendale, CA. Is that an early delivery date? I know there were less 1987 Mera's built then 1988 but I don't know when other Mera's were delivered in 1987.

Thanks for your help

Let me know if you run across any 245 x 50 x 15 tires during your search. All I know about "stock" rims is that they were used on the 1987 models as well as 1988 Meras. The Chromadoras were optional equipment only in 1988. BTW, they do not look very goodon a 1987 Mera since they were specifically made for the 1988 suspension. Since the Meras came from the factory with the 245 front and 265 rear tires, I can make an assumption that these tires may also fit the "stock" rims but you might have to try a set on the car to confirm exactly how they fit.

I had a set of white diamond style wheels that came with one specific 1988 Mera and they were stock. The car did have Chromadoras installed as well as a custom Recarro style seats with a spare set of conventional gray seats. This particular vehicle was registered to the originator of the Mera (Bob Bracey) and was driven by his wife. Hers was white and his was black IIRC.

Hey, does any know what paint/paint code/color was used for the black bumpers and side vents? I'm going to have to repair mine and wanted to match original specs as close as I can.

Thanks!

Chris

*Update: for some reason, pictures won't post? I'll try another way later...
