Suspension is good, brakes work great now and the Series III SC motor runs strong and stays cool.

Thanks Dan

I drove it about 30 miles on Sunday for it's first shakedown cruise since the motor swap, suspension and brake work. All went well and the 3800 sure pulls hard when it starts to boost. It handles way better too, the front springs were too low and the plastic rack bushing was falling out.

I'm trying to decide if I want to leave it black, it's a re-paint or go back with the original color, red. I really like the way your red Mera looks and everybody knows red cars are faster. Decisions, decisions, plenty of time to think about it. I have to fix lots of little stuff and I have a Pisa Euro dash for it before paint.

Hope that it turns out nice when all is said and done.

My wife asked how much longer I would be working on it Saturday evening as I was putting the front wheels back on. I replied, as long as I have it.

If it helps you out any, here is a black 87 with t-tops that is being reconverted from a F308 life to a Mera. Everything on the outside is now done with the exception of the side markers and paint but it now includes a 3800 SC Series II engine mated to the Getrag 282 transmission. Like your vehicle it may always be a work in progress.

Not a Mera but a nice looking replica from my point of view and the limited photos.

That's my plan also, mine still has the Fcar badges but they are soon to be removed. I have a MERA nose badge and MERA letters for the rear.

Why try to pass off a 1 of 247 car as one that 10 to 12 thousand were made? I like my MERA and I can afford to keep it running, maybe not so a 308.

Yeah, not a real mera, but a decent kit, with what appears nice fit/finish, could be another "ReMera" for someone...

Rick,

I am familiar with fairly recent Mera purchases in the US that ranged anywhere from $6500 to $18000. It is highly dependent on the individual buyer and seller are willing to compromise on (interior, paint, engine, etc.). There is a 1987 Mera for sale right now for $11.5 k and is discussed elsewhere on PFF.

I have a 1987 MERA, production number 7039, Painting code B8469
VIN is 1G2PF1196HP238300
It appears that my MERA is built on an SE, which I understand is rare.
Someone who knows how many Mera that exists, based on the SE model?

Jens, My Mera is 7029 (SE like yours), and we've learned thru Dan's work that most (all?) of the first 1987 Meras were built on SE chassis. Yours adds to this understanding. Dan can probably tell you more. His very early production Mera is an SE. There are a few more members here who have SE Meras as well, all early ones.
