A Real Mera in Paradise (Page 61/713)

you know??, after looking (starring) at MERA #8002 i realize, the dark red color is a lighting optical.
but, that engine bay looks horrible. with the rust and all the whatiss. the most i would offer, after the in person tire kick, is $10,000 cash.
only cuz the 2nd '88 Mera made and the low miles. again, it better look good in person tho.
back to the starring.
Dan

I have been following the MERA thread for some time now and this MERA for $20,00.00 should look like new not the way we see it now. Being a Ferrari enthusiast I would like to own a MERA in the future as I can not see a Ferrari in my future. I have some 600-700 articles from magazines, news papers and other sources for info on Fiero. I been looking for articles on MERA's but only have found some in Car and Driver, High Performance Pontiac and a couple in news papers. (Rodney would like to know if you have any Mera info I could add to my Fiero MERA collection?)

Been in holiday hibernation mode...

paced84, e-mail me, would like to compare notes and perhaps we can help each other out on Mera info.

Agree, that ain't worth $20K, especially in today's market. My paint job is not as nice as this one, but the rest is certainly nicer/cleaner (LOL...at least IMHO). I only have 28K mileage on mine, and I'd be happy to sell it for $12K.

Hey guys, I heard on this am's news of yet another cold(er) front moving through the CONUS. Be safe...and warm!

Gotta run to work.
Tom

Tom,

Your car should bring 12k easy. I would think more mid teens. The only issue is shipping to some place other than Hawaii...... I figure that would be pricey. As I recall yours is an automatic, correct? I just had to have a 5-speed.

hmmm... wonder how much shipping would be to the states (TX).

is this car worth $25K (I know if someone is willing to pay then it is)?
i would go check this car out but it 1.5 hours away, then only time i would be even close to it would be after NTFC monthly meeting. if they still have it then i might swing by to look at it. if it's open on saturday.

thanks...

edit:
now i see the car listed on ebay for $19K

Tom,

This car is in good, but far from excellent condition. Low miles are only a plus depending on how hard the miles were put on. This car is also not original paint. The paint code B8590L is for the bright red, not metallic red. I am not sure if any metallic red MERA's were produced.

My Mera has more mileage, but is much cleaner than this one. Also, it was an original owner car that was never altered with "Ferrari" badging. Some MERA badging is now hard to source if you plan to return the car to stock. The advantage you have is you could drive it home which will save you shipping costs. I had mine shipped half way across the country. Personally I would not go more than 15 to 16k as you don't have to pay for shipping. You will still have lots of detailing work ahead, and what ever "fixes" the car needs. As hard as these cars are to find, this one is still worth considering, but at a lower price.

Tom,
Interestingly, this is the first Mera I made a serious attempt to buy, http://www.paradisecruisers...p?topic=13086.0;wap2 . I'll let you figure out who it belonged to. Never could hook up with the seller, but did some googling regarding shipping costs--sorry, didn't keep the quotes. Auto shipping is a lot like mail, it's a commodity and service is pretty consistent across carriers, and given the service you require, e.g. response time, enclosed carrier, etc. rates are similar. Whomever you "list" with, your requirements will go on the "big board" and carriers will contact you with their offer. I shipped a Mera from Chicago to Phoenix for about $650--picked up within a week and then a few days in transit. It arrived clean and undamaged.

Other advice--take your time and explore all possible sources. While I would have really liked to have had Tom's car--oops I gave it away--I found others that were pretty good buys. Having said that, I let a beauty slip through my fingers by being hesitant. I ended up buying through Paul Vargyas, a guy well known in the Fiero comminity, and so far, vary happy with the car--see http://home.xnet.com/~paulv/index.htm. OBTW, Paul is the "WFA" on Fiero prices.

Dick
