It's tough to beat an AWD car that's got any power... especially if the road is the least bit damp.
I have a '98 JDM Subaru Impreza WRX STi, and I'm amazed at the traction it gets off the line, even in the pouring rain.

Yes Patrick, in the wet he was pretty much unbeatable.
But I saw some footage from Sunday morning (tracked had dried off during the night and a short dry spell from 9am to 10am) where he was outclassed by another more powerfull car.------------------

Of course, I have no idea what engine that Audi TT Quattro had, and whether or not it was stock... but from what I can find online, the most powerful engine offered was the 3.2 VR6 Quattro with 247 HP. Compare that to the conservatively rated from the factory 280 HP that my Subie has, and yes, I can certainly understand how that Audi TT Quattro could be beat.[This message has been edited by Patrick (edited 09-23-2025).]

Patrick, some further investigation has shown that he claimed that his TT was tuned to 600HP! So at least 200 more than my Fiero?
In my opinion, if he had that, it was coming on with boost by gear towards the top end; he would have spun out with all that power in 1st gear. (As well as engine failure!)
He's also claiming 10 second passes when I mesure 12.5 seconds in my footage.
I call a slight BS; he's only 1/2 a second faster than Turbo Slug. And I wasn't on semi-slicks and I was spinning 1st and 2nd in the wet.

Rafe, there's probably a good chance that some exaggeration of HP and performance has taken place.

Yeah, the guy sent me a 15 second long video of his car beating my car, saying that he was in the 10's!
I replied that he didn't launch before the 3rd second of his vid clip, so that makes 12 seconds already if you know how to count!π
As well, his vid showed that the finish was still about 50 metres in front of him, but of course he cut the video there because I was catching upπ
I had mesured this run on my video footage with about a 12.4 for him and 12.9 for me.
All good fun for me, but I think he was feeling butt hurt that a 60 year old driver in a 40 year old car was actually giving him and his new(ish) car a run for the money!!ππ
