The frustrations of owning a Fiero in The Netherlands (Page 4/4)

Hey Ro! Good to see you are still around!

I've already ordered the brake pads from Rock Auto, together with some other small parts. But thanks for the very kind offer!

In fact, the doorbell just rang and it was a package from Rock Auto! That was really, really fast. I had ordered this stuff on the 19th!

Now to Cliff's issues, is the exhaust too far gone to patch up before you find a better/cheaper solution? For APK it only needs to be leakfree.

Yes, that's what I did 2 years ago with the last APK. But the muffler is in bad shape. I think I can patch it up just for the APK - don't seem to have a choice really since I haven't found an exhaust system yet and I got a quote from a cmpany who makes custom SS exhaust. It was €1,400 😳

Hey, Cliff. Have a look at the Dynomax Super Turbo 53804 muffler. It’s 1 in, 2 out like the stock mufflers. Inlets and outlets are different sizes but a bet you could find a shop that could make the transition pieces for you. I saw it for US$159 on Amazon.

You could probably get all the pieces together and just pay the shop for the welding labor to save a bit. Check out some of these clubs, somebody is going to know how to weld an exhaust system or give you more options.

Hey, what is your area of expertise? Maybe if you are an online type professional you could do a 'side-job' for somebody on here for a little extra car money? There has to be some you-tubers or business people looking for a website or something... If that's your profession?

I was going to mention that too Rich. Barter/trade.

Find a skill or commodity. I luckily have many parts for a boike only available in the USA for 3 years... while the production run elsewhere was 20years...first thing I'll ask any USAers looking for boike bits is can you get any fiero parts.. doesn't solve the postage problem but does often solve the import tax problem.

Also if you have any USA'ers residing in your country... particularly service peoples they may have easier access to parts. We had BV over here for a while and that was very useful.

Unless the piping is rotted out, replacing the muffler shouldn't be that expensive. You can modify/reweld a Delta flow flowmaster 40 series muffler without too many issues. I doubt shipping on that muffler is very expensive, 100 bucks or less, might even be in stock in Europe somewhere.
