Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend some time on the car... the first thing that I needed was a wash!
There was some mold under the black plastic trims. There is more that need to be cleaned under the hood, but that first wash changed the car a lot.
I was able to take it for a quick ride, the engine is running fine.
We were a 32 degrees here in Vancouver, so I had the chance to remove my sunroof glass...
After the ride, we noticed that the cooling fan is not working, and the coolant was at boiling temperature. I knew the AC was not working, but the AC fan is working at the different speeds and the AC makes the noise like trying to come up, but it does not cool the interior. Now I have some priorities on my list:
- Coolant Fan inspection (relay, switch, thermostat, power on the coolant fan, motor of the fan) to be able to move it to my place or to the shop to get fixed: - Exhaust manifolds + gaskets - Oil change / Spark plugs / ignition wires / cap and rotor - Temperature sensor / gauge on the panel
Additional to that, the original key to open the doors is broken inside the driver cylinder door. The broken piece can open and lock the door, but is better to get it fixed. I have copies of both keys, and the rest of the cylinders (passenger door, trunk, ignition) are working fine.

Is that plug one of the possible reasons why my temperature gauge does not work? I read about connecting a paper clip and check the wires for the light coming on and the gauge going to the right.

That's a sweet looking Fiero! Try to post your queries on the technical section to get more replies.

That plug there is probably the tach filter connection. Just below that with the yellowish wires are the temp sender wires. It looks like the plastic connector is broken so just the metal clips are left. You can pull those off and touch it to a clean unpainted surface on the engine to ground it. The gauge should peg or overheat light should come on depending which wire. If so, then the sender is most likely bad. If nothing happens when you ground the wires, then there could be a wiring issue or the gauge could be inoperative, dead bulb, etc.

The issues that I had found had been easy to fix until now.
I just followed this inspection and when I ground one of the wires, and the gauge is pegging, so now I am waiting to receive my temp gauge sender unit from Napa. And then switch the wires behind the dash to avoid the pegging when starting the car.
My fan didn't work because the wire from the connector was completely cut in two, for now I taped the two pieces of wire with the famous black tape and the fan is working without issue.
I will go to the technical section to post my questions about replacing the manifolds.
