Is this real? (Page 3/3)

I built one of the hybrid MY8/M17 4 speed transmissions for my 3800 swap and normally push 30mpg driving around town with a little highway driving. At 70mph it is turning 2300rpm in 4th on the highway. I was very surprised at the mileage. The real purpose was to maintain a stick and keep the stronger 4 speed without the higher rpm on the highway. And it is fun to drive and pulls strong even in 4th.

What goes up to 7000lbs? I assure you that vehicle cannot have that in its' bed.
I drove a Fiero with a 4 speed L67. 86GT. The guy cracked the windshield launching. He swore it was from his driveway extreme angle. It was topped by 110. Wasn't the car for me.

interesting, my windshield cracked when i was just driving along. 15mph on a lake road, no other traffic, clear skies and 70°F. my only theory is an acorn fell and hit it juuuuust right lol

A lot of times you can decipher auto correct, but my new S22 Ultra is garbage for that. It probably has to do with using my Note 8 for so long.

That cracked windshield thing was a bummer, but I'm glad. 1st gear in that car wasn't worth launching. I couldn't keep the wheels stuck. 2-4 and it was over.
A friend and veteran CDL and driver of all things drive it too. He had never driven a supercharged car though. It was slick out by the time he got behind the wheel (just a fine mist). I said leave it in vacuum, but he didn't know what I meant. Not realizing he down shifted to pass and we went dangerously sideways on the interstate. We were lucky he was experienced. I tried to have him pull out his Solstice, but after diving it he said no way it'll keep up.

He top end might have been bigger than 110, but I don't think much.
For me finding that transmission and then having to have that **** 4 cylinder isn't cool. I'd rather a VW 2.0T swap. Bolt ons make it a bullet and get 40MPG fairly easily. Not that I'm even considering that task.

That was good back then. Now my truck a 4500 pound 308 HP 3.6 Canyon crew 4x4 is sitting at 20.1 MPG average for 18,000 miles. Times have changed.

I have a 2018 Colorado 3.6 Z71 and it averages 22 MPG. I do highway & stop and go. It is a home owner & occasional off road truck for sure and the damn thing handles great. The G6 is only better by a few MPG and the BMW's are better than all in Pro Econo mode BUT require 91 octane gas.

The most fuel efficient car ever is a Toyota Paseo. The most frugal car i have had was a Suzuki mighty boy ute. which used half the gas but a micro car.

'14 Jetta and '03 Prizm are my winners. Tied at `42MPG. Auto vs manual. Same displacement. Snail vs NA. Jetta is/was all around just better. Loved and would be happy to have either again. Especially in the condition they were kept.

The best MPG car I had was the HHR SS I had.

I added the GM tune to it for 23 PSI of boost and 300 HP. It was a blast to drive and could haul in more than one way. The thing would run 13's get 26 city 32 highway driven hard. The tune bumped things about 2 mpg to the better.

I was never an HHR fan but after driving the SS I has it for about 10 years and miss it today. I also sold it for 70% of what I paid for it too.

Has anyone wind tunneled these to figure out the Drag Coefficents for the various body panel configurations? If not, doing some 'tuft testing' could probably get a fairly good idea for the best aero.

If someone were *really* inclined to become a Fiero Hypermiler, i wonder how possible it would be to swap a Geo Metro 1.0 / 1.3 engine and transaxle into one of these?
Maybe even track down an XFI Metro with the even milder cam?

I know there were a couple guys who figured out the FWD cradle from the "Electric S10" / "EV1" could bolt ut to a P-body.
