Happy Belated Birthday. I was actually having a birthday party for my now 4 year old son on the 11th. I am very impressed with your project. I just finished a 4.9 V8 swap. I am glad to see a young person like yourself taking on a project like this. I hope that both of my sons (one is 6 the other 4) Will get into cars when they get older. Keep up the great work. Some updates with pictures coming soon. Kathryn has done some powder coating and sanding recently....so the work progresses. Just been real busy at work to get some updates on here. I need to show Kathryn how to upload photos!

As promised, here are a couple of photos for everyone.....perhaps Kathryn can give you an update tonight after soccer as well.
She got the calipers all cleaned and prepped and ready for paint. There are the new calipers for the Grand Am Brake upgrade.

Then we got some fun stuff in the mail.....DIYStu dewwipes for the doors. I think we will wait until the doors are all done before installing. She still needs to clean up the window components and install the new lock solenoids.

And of course, we have the tank out of the car ready to be cleaned, resprayed, and the new pump put in.

Some images of the surface rust....the rest of the tank looks real good, no rust or peel inside. So this should be pretty easy to clean up.

Wow, that tank looks pretty darn good. Mine is pretty rust damaged; I just noticed a slow leak last night. Looks like I'm on the market for a new one. Best of luck getting it all cleaned up!
As always, great job Kathryn and Dad!

Hey Baby K!
Good to see you with an update today.
For everyone else, we do have some photos to update aw well. Kathryn fixed one side of the tank the other night and hopefully will have the second side done by the time I get home from work. She also finished one of the back vents in terms of blasting it clean and we have it powder coated yellow. It still needs one more coat but looks pretty good. We also finished the repair to the plastic panels that screw to the seats and cover the ratchet mechanism. We had to fab some new tabs for the screws since the old ones were broken. Should have gotten more pictures of how we did that as we went, but at least it is done. Her spare tire retaining rod and the lug wrench are also blasted and repainted, as is the air filter box. She has started sanding on the back deck lid as alluded to in her post. Lots of sanding to do! The front of the car needs some wire wheeling and encapsulating then respray, but nothing at all like what the back was like.
We should be moving on to suspension soon and Kathryn can continue working on sanding the panels and paint prep over the course of the summer.
