What's a 1988 SE body/chassis worth? (Page 2/2)

$800 is.very fair as even the seats in fair condition could be that much sold alone. The deaths are popular with hot rod builders.

I know someone that is looking to convert their '86 to having the front and rear suspension from an '88 (including the rear cradle of course).

Let me see if he's ready to buy or not. He might be willing to pick up the whole car from you (he has a truck and trailer). Though time/gas might be negotiated out of the price, or if you part it out, then it could be a different story entirely.

Please keep me in mind before you sell it / part it out

Can't say I'm looking to start cutting deals before I even list it.

Understood, I was putting that out there because a few times in the past threads like this would come up, and before the person made up their mind, a line had formed and I missed out.

Unless you find a local buyer, may never sell it as parts car or swap project regardless of claims above...

Transporting even in 1 state is harder then many think even before virus panic.
Most Towing Co's only operate in "local" areas. If they tow outside of their normal range, the Cost can climb and very fast.
Many Tow Co's Can't or Won't tow across State Lines. Because of many things including taxes and licenses in other state(s) and dealing w/ US DOT Interstate Trucking rules.

Worse Fuel prices are high means cost is already climbing.

Plus many Interstate Freight haulers have a Driver Shortage too so cost to ship by them to another state is getting higher and higher.

DIY Getting U-haul car trailer isn't exactly cheap or easy in total and have to have a tow vehicle that handles the car and heavy trailer. And don't just mean "big truck" but has GVWR etc from vehicle maker says can haul that weight.
If the vehicle's GVWR say over weight then can have legal problems w/ cops, rental co, and anyone else if/when you wreck.
And that's including most vehicles w/ any spring and other "upgrades" claiming to handle more weight. (Plus those will void any warranty by GM and others.)

Side note: While "junk yards" and other say free or even pay for junk cars... Often only apply to some models and/or < X years old.
Expect to pay them to tow. If towed there by any other method, many won't pay you. More so when they look and no motor, radiator, AC, etc. Those 4 alloy wheel are likely worth same or more then the steel in car just as scrap but yard must remove and pay to dispose the tires. Rad and AC has Aluminum too but you don't have them.

I would love to have a good "roller" in central California. So value has a lot to do with demand AND accessibility to the product.
Dennis LaGrua OCT 14, 08:42 AM
What this car is worth is a difficult question. The appeal of a non-running Fiero would only be to a DIY builder. That audience is typically small. It has nice wheels decent paint but a worn interior and no powertrain. Try to sell at your asking price and see what happens.
