My guess is that the 1986/1987 Fiero was stolen, and then a clean 1988 VIN was transferred to it.
Fishy stuff! (car thieves, next time use a VIN that looks like it could belong)
Technically, you can't confirm the year of a Fiero from its external body panels (it could be a 1988 Fiero), as those can all be swapped, but I'd bet on fishy business going on.[This message has been edited by pmbrunelle (edited 12-25-2020).]

And the popped sunroof and cracked windows. Looks like it was warm in that car and someone got out and was like hmm lets take a photo.
The seat also says 86-87. If the paperwork says 88 id be checking rivets on vin tags both the windshield and column and the front fender tag (fender and drivers door tag are probably gone because of new paint they will say. Same with all of the vin stickers they tossed on everything on the 87-88s. However the mini tags never existed because its an 86) then because its supposed to be an 88 but will have pre 88 suspension they will probably say it was an early run of 88. Then when you ask why it doesn't have rosette rivets holding the vin tags down they will stop talking to you.[This message has been edited by skywurz (edited 12-26-2020).]

Posts 1 half-assed picture, can't get any of the details right, and he wants $6500? Some people...
90% sure that's an 87 SE.

I saved the pic and then enlarged it. Very hard to tell, but the caliper shape - and especially the position - don't look right for an 88.

Yeah it’s not an 88, I was 99.99% sure before starting this thread but had to see what others thought too.

Such a fuss?
Odds are one of two things. He put down the wrong year or it could be a salvage title or some such deal that was done in 88.
I really don’t believe it is stolen. In Ohio they really go after cars they can part out easily like trucks and Camrys.
It could be a body swap but why do it as a 86 SE? If you are swapping you go for a GT.
As for snow we had none till just 3 days ago.
The only really odd thing is stored 30 year and yet 95000 miles. Normally 4 years of driving bring 50000 or less.
I suspect someone picked this up from someone who had not driven it for a while, but less than the claimed 30 years. They bought it to flip it.
Outside our small circle most people think of Fiero’s much like most other cars. It is just another car and can I make a buck on it. If you said Hulki to them they would think it was a side dish at a Japanese restaurant.
The bottom line is most people don’t care and just trying to make a buck.
My estimation is this is an 86 SE nothing more. He either got the date wrong or it is wrong on the title. I rather doubt any one here is buying anyways. There are lower mile cars out there for just a little more money.
Note if it was an Ohio car it may be rotted out under the skin anyways.[This message has been edited by hyperv6 (edited 12-26-2020).]

You guys are taking this waaaaaaaaay. too seriously. Has it occurred to you that not everyone knows, or gives a crap about Fieros? Maybe the seller guessed at the year, or posted it from memory and made a mistake? Instead of some sinister plot??? LOL
