How much further back can this be mounted before it interferes with the spare tire compartment? I think I would want my vent a little further back when I get around to doing it |

Looks like it's designed to follow the lines of the headlight doors

Could this be installed from the bottom side of the hood? Perhaps with an adhesive instead of the rivets to make it look less "bolt-on"?
Looks good either way!
Edit to add: any chance it’ll come with a template for the cut-out? [This message has been edited by Silicoan86 (edited 11-18-2014).]

We have quite a bit of snow here at the moment so it's tough to get the car out of the garage for more pictures right now. I will do my best if we get a clear day.
You are obviously free to mount the vent wherever and however you please. However, I think there may only be 2-3 inches of room upwards on the hood before you start running into the face where the front compartment seal sits. I probably wouldn't try and mount it under the hood unless you want to do some body work on the top to get the edges perfectly smooth and blended. Even then it may not look right because it would sit so low.
The vent is intended to be mounted between the headlights. It fits nicely there and I made it such that the lines flow with the headlight door openings as was mentioned above.[This message has been edited by doublec4 (edited 11-18-2014).]

No clearance issue between underside of vent and top of radiator support brace? Looks like it would be snug down there. Kit

Absolutely no clearance issues below. The vent is a bit of an illusion. It looks deeper than it is. From the top of the hood surface to the lowest point on the vent is somewhere between 15 -20mm if I remember correctly.
If you look at the picture of the holes in my hood, you can see that I only cut the top skin. I left the bracing uncut at the bottom of the hole. The vent clears this bracing without issue. I just painted it black so you cannot see it under the vent.

I tend to agree. A little rain falling on the fan motor is nothing compared to it ramming into the fan at 55 MPH driving down the highway
Very nice scoop! Kudos on the design and build of it!

If radiator fans were not waterproof they would not last long!
BTW for those interested in paint to match; I'd suggest painting your fasteners when you paint it. If you plan on using pop rivets you can ore paint them too.[This message has been edited by Francis T (edited 11-19-2014).]
