A Real Mera in Paradise (Page 139/713)

Dan, it amazes me to no end where you get all these photos and articles! VERY interesting, THANKS for posting it for us! I can't make out that number in the second column...how many did Corporate Concepts intend to make?

I'm going to have a friend in Japan search around for car forums there, and see I can post something about the Mera. The marvels of the Internet!! The only problem with Japan is that older cars are taxed higher...its an incentive that people only drive newer, more dependable cars that won't break down. So no telling if any still exist there. I'm sure there must be at least one or two still around there...probably in someone's collection (like the Japanese equivalent to Jay Leno).

Bob Bracey planned on making 1000 Meras. seemed to fall alittle short.....i must say.

all them articles were in an enevlope from the Guy in FL, i bought Mera X from. its was cool to discover them.
he is/was a member here on the PFF, Known as Mera-NSX....Heath.
he never calls or Emails me. does not post here anymore. one reason i was so whinny when i first got here.....the other is cuz, i am whinny.hahahahaaaa.....and bitter....i all better now.
even if Mera X turns out to be a Kit or Recovery and restore. its fun enough to drive as is.....and my favorite is to Defend the Kit Car accussation with...."how many Ferrari Kit Cars do you see labeled with their manufracturer name on it??? freeking Dolts, they are!
dinners a callin

When I had my 86GT, the previous owner took out the cat and replaced it with the straight pipe that the Fiero Store sells. Kept the stock muffler. I have to admit, without the cat, the V-6 REALLY rumbles! On the down side, the idle would always be on the high side. And the exhaust was more nauseous (didn't bother me though). And every parking structure I rumbled through, I'd be setting off car alarms left and right. It was funny. Had to be real careful too, whenever a cop was near/next to me, I had to let that baby coast.

is it really that loud??? may have to re-think it.
you know tho, the cops do not even look twice at me.....since the car is so small it feels faster than it really is. i love that. in the Trans Am its a different story..i get sooo many tickets in that car....its broke tho.

Holy Crap Dan!! If that article is correct, I purchased one of the SIX 88 Mera GT's! Is there anyway that number can be verified?? My title clearly lists my car as a Fiero GT. It has the GT steering wheel, stock GT leather, and factory Performance sound which I believe was not available on the Formula in 88. I will dig out my factory 88 brochure to verify this. Pics of my car when I got it are still posted back in this thread. In fact, Dan was the one that put them in the thread. I vote Dan for Mera Historian!

Interesting, I heard that most all '88s were SEs and '87 were a mix--the reason for so few '88 t-tops and sun roofs.

Every day's an education.

hes got Ocelot....i got stock. only difference. i hope not to much of a difference.
i could live with that for the rest of the year.
Dan

Yep, that's mine....... the Ocelot without a cat, it will be throaty for sure. Don't know how it will sound with a stock muffler and tips though, but It's worth a try.

Here's a side shot, still working on getting the right springs to lower it slightly.

Another retort is that the high value F-308s are the plastic ones by Scaglietti.

Joe, that is a super-nice ride! Did you build that yourself? I dare ask, what kind of rims are those? Very unique...spokes but they look like they have a twist in them.

Hey Rick! Dang, you lucky dog! Considering how few GTs were converted (if the article is correct), and how many Meras are left, you MAY have the only one left!

LOL...dunno about Dan the Historian, but the guy can research like nobody's business!

Hmmmm...wasn't this plaque on e-bay not too long ago?

http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum4/HTML/052846.html

Without the history that goes with it (e.g., more info on the meet, who the winner was, what other Meras were there, Mera #, etc.), the plaque is pretty much worthless. IMHO, of course.
