A Real Mera in Paradise (Page 112/713)

Dano, what's the problem with the temp guage? If the sender uniit, I have a spare you can have.

If its the plastic connector, mine cracked on my Fiero a while back, so until I get a new connector, I just broke off the plastic connector completely with pliers. It was very brittle. The female connectors were still attached to the wires, so I just wrapped them with a little electrical tape and stuck them back onto the sensor terminals. Not sure if it makes a difference, but I made sure each one went on the way they are suppose to. Temp guage still working after all this time.

As for that door handle, from the videos I've seen, the door handle is epoxied onto the inside of the Mera door skin, so its impossible to adjust. Also takes two people to remove and install the panel...one to hold the panel, and another guy has to become Houdini and reach in with his arms to connect it to the rod as the panel is being removed/installed.

Appears to me that the interior door panel is stock Fiero with the "filler" sill attached to the panel. I would think that removing this panel--it's not hard to do on a stock Fiero--would give a pretty good view of the mechanics of the exterior door handle--IMHO ;-)

I recently replaced the dew wipes and passenger side window motor on my 87 GT--removal of the interior door panel was the easiest part.

What method did you use for the dew wipes? That's on my to-do list, but it looks difficult.

morning all.
Tom, my gauge is all over the place and i need a new one. i am just being lazy.
actually i wish i could have both, one as a back up. plus, i do not want to break anything.
the brittle plastic scares me. i cant DO gentle...
i have a line on a aftermarket one so i will be looking into this, today.

now to the dew wipes. are you guys going to try to get the wipes up higher, to the top of the door? outside panel??
i see the Org. Fiero wipes as a water trap as is. i do not even think about driving X with even the slightest hint of rain.

also i should be into my door panel by Noon.....
Dan

This sounds like the most logical idea. I have never tried to peer in the slot you have to reach into to see how the handle is mounted. It is just one of those "Mera Mysteries". My wife thinks the door handles are a joke anyway. She thinks I should take a hint from the lowriders an put "poppers" on the doors

If you ever decide to make a set of stock Mera headlight covers to mimic the 308 look with the first five or so louvers made flat, I would like to buy some.

Check out these video clips. About 9 mins into #3 will show you how our door handles and locks are most likely mounted on the inside of the fiberglass door skin. The beginning of Clip #4 will show the Houdini act when mounting the door skin.

you know, in my opinion, these vids are not Meras?? these vids are what NOT to look for in/on your Mera.

these vids started me questioning my Mera.....now i find the Bondo.

i think its weird that i have 2 keys for the doors.
One for the Rear Deck and one for the DR/PASS doors. the pass door does not unlock. but locks from the outside..i do not like this.

in this issue i hope i am TOTALLY WRONG!!! but letting my record speak for itsself i believe......AWWWW, SHUT UP, RECORD!

as far as i know this vid is filmed in 1989 from Florida....at least that is what it says in this sites archive search on this topic.
this video is scary if one does not have a sticker......
later

considering taking MeraX to breakfast for our Anniversary.... i was giving him a good going over, wait did i refer to X as him......
uhhhh, anyway found this rubber piece needed to be taken apart for a little peepin'

notice the red arrow points to the bolt end on the inside, pointed in not out. mine 'tis not like in the FieroNews dl's.
COOL! also seem like the videos reflected a mad butcher behind the grinders.
i witness some "massaging" of the metal in my door handle, but not an outright slaughter.
i DO have mounting plates, like they do. cept they look different. gotta watch that again
later
D
ohh.....yeah as far as adjusting the handle?? i think maybe....if i bend that plate down/in i think it will help me. in my case i also need the passenger side handle to move 1/2 inch to the left if looking at the door. if i stay to the far left with like 2 fingers its way easier to open than if i try to "center" my fingers. all 4 in the hole on the handle..sa'right??s'allright!
