Not only do they appear to be critically low on stock on all models (as in none)... but it's just a bit suspicious when the currency symbol used in the prices for this supposedly Canadian product is the Indian rupee! (And no surprise, it's an Indian website... and probably a scam website at that.)

By the way, I looked up how much that price would be in American dollars... about 175 bucks.

As my wife says, every time her university's clothing is out of stock or absent from a clothing store when she sees all the other schools...

"It's because it's so popular that they're all sold out!"

Haha... yeah, I kind of know what's going on here. There are a few companies that come up with "names" for watch brands... create a whole run of unique watches under that make / name... they're all made in Hong Kong, and then when they sell out, the company usually ceases to exist unless they see a new need / demand.

It's a little bit more curated in the US and Canadian market... but companies like Solar Time Ltd., they are buying up all the old trademarks for obscure or "abandoned" watch brands from the 50s-80s, and then produce a whole new set of watches and revive the name.

The watches are actually quite decent in terms of quality... way better than what you expect from say, Temu or Ali Express.

I have never understood the concept of expensive watches....Rolex watches are just idiotic; I have a Timex I bought for $50 back 20-30 years ago- still works good.

The kind of people you attract with expensive stuff are not good people....I want friends who are good and honorable.

I did buy a slightly expensive watch when I was in the Navy- a diver watch manufactured by "Clinton"....did not mind the name back in the 80s- but now I just roll my eyes when I see it in the drawer....

It broke slightly when I got in a minor fight with another sailor in A-school (Avionics tech) back in Millington, TN- Guy hit my arm and the watch separated from the leather wrist-band and hit the wall. The date thingy is non-functional....

I agree with you in theory for the reasons you say... but I'll just add that not everyone buys a watch because they want to look good in it (or want to show off with it). For me... and I feel the same way about this with cars... I view watches as an engineering feat. I prefer mechanical watches... many of them I've actually fixed and restored myself (as in, disassembled and rebuilt the movement).

I actually have a YouTube channel where I buy, restore, and fix up watches... or just service them. Sometimes I just buy watches and review them. I usually sell them for a profit, but it's mostly just for fun. I don't have a lot of time lately... as you can see (if you go to my channel), I've added maybe 1 video in the past 6 months.

Here's a late 1940s / 1950s Technos watch that I restored for my uncle. It originally belonged to his father. Note: the video is long as hell... 30 minutes. Most people would be bored sick... but some people really enjoy watching it. I'm rambling the entire time too...

Sometimes I do 90s watches also... like this late 90s Bulova Millennia:

I rarely spend more than a few hundred on a watch. But I have gotten a couple of expensive ones. One was a Breitling, but it was a very special version made for the organization that I worked for, for over a decade. So it's pretty special to me in that case.

I also have my dad's Omega Seamaster that his parents bought for him when he came to the United States for the first time from the Netherlands (they weren't that expensive then).

But yeah... the reality is... a $10 Casio will tell time just as good as a COSC Rolex. I'm not personally into the Rolex... way too much money for no real added value. I do like Omegas though.

All the "models" wearing them on their YouTube page are AI-generated. Probably a dropshipper getting them from Temu/Shein/AliExpress for pennies.

They don't make them anymore, but I remember Movado had a Fiero line of watches many years ago. Only cost about as much as a car.

Hahah... it is pretty funny, but that girl isn't AI generated. She has too many imperfections, too many moles, she has a crease on her skin where she had her arm down on the corner of a table, and she has a small scratch on her face.

But to go to this level of effort... as in, a website, YouTube Videos, etc... these are decent watches that probably cost about ~$20 to make per watch, and they're probably selling them between $150-$250 depending on the model. As I mentioned, they are probably assembled in Hong Kong with the case likely made in China, and the movement probably made in Japan (basic Citizens 3-hand watch movement), and the crystal is probably from Spain.

I would like to have it. I named one of my Sons Clinton , my favorite Uncle after he died in a motorcycle accident. Heh, I used to have a Clinton watch many years ago before I named my Son.

Where it is, only the shadow knows.
