Anyone ever try this? The 72 hour claim seems long but it sounds like a good thing to have around in a cabinet for if its ever needed.

Interesting.

It is said to always keep a bottle of alcohol (rubbing), a roll toilet paper, and a (unattanium) metal coffee can in your vehicle during freezing weather. The toilet paper is not for what you think.

What you do is put the toilet paper roll in the metal coffee can and pour in the rubbing alcohol. Add as needed. It soaks up in the toilet paper and effectively makes a "heater". The toilet paper not burning, just the alcohol fumes.

I don't see why it wouldn't work.
If Gwyneth Paltrow hears about it....

Gonna need some method to project the light out of the bucket it's going to be in as it consumes the fuel.

Yup.
Likely need a "floating" wick if used for longer time as fuel drops and wick gets longer and causes smoke or other problems.

Similar Floating Wicks for oil "lamps" make out of almost anything.

If it lasted eight days, it would be a miracle.

You beat me to it. (Great minds think alike.)

I'm thinking this one smells like a KFC. (As opposed to a Captain D's. Did I say that?)

Just due to old wick material or to let oxygen in better? Punch holes above the lard line?

Yeah, I thought it said 72 hours, not days.
