I think you missed the point. The suicides, divorces, job losses, drug addictions, etc are far far worse than the few people who are being saved with the lockdown.
No children have died. None.
The needs of the many are being crushed by the needs of the few.

A doctor reports that among the patients that she has seen, about 70 percent of the ones that were asymptomatic had really bad-looking lung X-rays. Of the ones that presented actual symptoms of Covid--100 percent. These bad-looking lung X-rays keep on looking bad. I don't think that enough time has gone by yet to have a firm grasp of the longer and long-term implications for these people.

Service-industry and mom-and-pop companies are dropping like flies here. I know one girl who has done commercial cleaning for 17 years and is now offering whole-house clean for 50 bucks. I am lucky as frack that I held on to a few telecommute contracts when I moved here, otherwise I'd be in the same boat on shitz creek with no paddle. 3D sales for yesterday were 30 bucks. Thats "bonus" money for me since I set-and-forget, it does its thing while I do mine. October I did over 1k in death whistles.
Now, my favorite pizza joint is closed over this. After 35 years in business. I used to stop there for a slice 15 years ago and would make a special side-trip to get one.

This is not the first event that has adversely affected the populace of the United States. It's just the first one that the current ("me") generations have experienced and some of them have no idea how o deal with it. The economy will return just as it always has. Denial of the severity of the pandemic has already cost the president his job and has now resulted in loss of control of the Senate. Whether Trump could have done more is moot (tho I truly believe he could and should have) . The perception among a large % of the voters is that he could and should have and he and many of his supporters allowed that perception to grow, resulting in a much closer election result than should have happened. The reality is... Democrats stole this election, in some part through pure corrupt and illegal voting (which you are welcome to your opinion), and in other part vast manipulation of election laws. All the states that Trump lost, were states that had massive mail-in voting which allowed for ballot harvesting and other tactics that had never been used before in these states. This is only partially correct. He didn't spend as much 'political captal as he should have, not even close. More to the point, what he did spend outside the very 1st few weeks of the pandemic, he did so in the wrong direction and was thus wasted. Months ago, (Aug- earlySept) in a reply to 82-T/A [At Work] I predicted that Trumps lack of attention to Covid19 was going to play heavily and negatively into his re-election chances, as he had put all his bets on the economy. He was playing to his base, which was never in jeopardy of being lost to begin with. It was the center and and independents that go him elected, and as the pandemic grew and the death counts increased, he just stuck to the same old message course he had set upon in 2019, and that did not play well in states where 300,000 dead people's relatives, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and other fellow citizens followed what the President was saying and doing in stark contrast to what the best medical minds of the nation and world were recommending. He fought with his own medical panel, publicly made fun of masks and 6' separations, openly and often urged states to open up public gatherings, beaches, businesses; ..playing again to a base that was going to vote for him no matter what he said or did, losing, the middle and swings that won him the election in 2016.. The 'us' in USA. He was very late in the game to recommend the public wear masks, but even after he came out in favor of it, he publicly mocked a Fox reporter (Laura Ingram) for wearing a mask at a political rally a week before the election.. “I do believe Laura Ingraham is here someplace,” the president said, scanning the crowd. “Where is Laura? Where is she?”
He continued, “I can’t recognize you. Is that a mask? No way, are you wearing a mask? I’ve never seen her in a mask. Look at you. Laura, she’s being very politically correct. Whoa!”
He was seen as 'not caring about us' and predictably, it all showed up Nov 3. A good President leads. A great President leads by example. All these things, more than anything else led to his loss. I voted for him and if the election was held again today, I would again, but I wouldn't expect him to fare any better.

She lost because much of America in the electorally important states within her own blue firewall simply did not trust her because of all the baggage she brought and the fact that Trump's team ran a better campaign. From Benghazi, to the email server, to Jeffery Epstein, to Whitewater, to the Clinton Foundation, she was just too poor of a candidate to begin with, that believed her own hype then looked around for someone else to blame. An incumbent candidate can overcome a poor economy, can overcome a foreign war, can overcome a devastating attack on US soil, but 237,000 dead Americans (Nov 1 tally) in peacetime takes a LOT more finesse and attention than Donald trump was able or willing to commit to. He lost because of corruption. Media corruption, political corruption in his party as well as the Democrats. Corruption from his own staffers picked for him by donors or his son in-law. He lost because predominantly Black Democrat dominated communities helping to defraud the rest of the electorate.
